* On hold until 23 Oct 2024: Linking or moving media

For Wish List Requests that need more work before they can be progressed to the Wish List, because after 3 months, discussions have not arrived at a clear specification of the requirement such that one or more Wish List items can be raised. Items On Hold that are not subsequently refined to a state suitable for the Wish List within a year by the OP or other interested parties will be closed. If the OP feels unable to progress the request, they should ask for volunteers among other interested users to assist.

On hold until 23 Oct 2024: Linking or moving media

I would like to see an option in preferences that allows you to pick to either link only or move to default location when drag and dropping media so you don't have to be constantly asked every time you add media.

That is a nice idea but there are more than two options.
For example, when I add new media from a file the Copy File(s) to: drop-list options are:
<Don't copy - link only>
<Default Location within Project Folder> i.e. \Media\
Census i.e. \Media\Census\
Certificates i.e. \Media\Certificates\
Places i.e. \Media\Places\
etc, etc...
That is because my Media files are organised into sub-folders within the Project's Media folder.
It is not obvious how such options could be handled in Preferences.

I've put this 'On Hold' as the OP hasn't responded to Mike T's attempt to clarify the requirement.
