Wish List Items - Solved by Plugins/V5

Post by Jane » 06 Aug 2011 11:20

This is a holding space for Wish List Items which have been solved by plugins or updates to the main program.

So that when V5 becomes public they can be marked as complete.

Please feel free to add any that you find.

Re 306.
The OP is asking that dates are always added as CCYY (app) and then he can remove the (app) so I don't think this is 'fixed' (nor would I want it to be personally).

Re 306.
The main complaint is the need to move the mouse & click on ... then Approximate then OK.
With FH V5 simply hitting ? while your fingers are already on the keyboard is better than having to set a default, and then remove (app) that are not required.
I am with you Chris in that I would not want the default option.
However, the spirit of this Wish I believe has been fixed.
This is often the case with Wish List items, where a problem solution is specified, but the solution implemented is slightly different, but just as good, if not better.

Re 306.

In FHv4 you need only type e.g. 1830app (no need for parentheses or date entry assistant).

If using AS (and why not?), it can insert a calculated birth date.

Peter, that is great, but how did you discover that? It is not in the Help anywhere.
What is strange is that you are using exactly the same year as I was experimenting with - spooky or what!!!

Mike, I certainly cannot explain the spooky coincidence of '1830'.  Basically I'm just lazy, and with any software I just see how little effort I can get away with.  Not since I was (at work) using IBM mainframe software many years ago, have I seen any Help or manuals that were really comprehensive and accurate.

That's funny. I've always just typed CAL/EST/APP on the end of dates as appropriate and have rarely used the date assistant. I assumed everyone did that. I didn't know I was doing something that was undocumented! :)
