Export Clean Up

Post by Jane » 23 Jul 2011 08:44

I am thinking of rewriting my FH Conversion, to a plugin.  Ideally it will also include a few things from ResPrivita.

I won't bother with living detection as I can use the Living Flag to get that.  So I would be looking to do the following options:
  • Convert and Resize all images (prompt for sizes)
  • 'Chop' images for selections and resize as above and convert to local media.
  • Option to shorten all living names to Initials and Surname or all Initials
  • Option to remove all media from Living people
  • Option to remove all sources from Living People
Is there anything else you can think of?

Option to remove Birth details from living people?
Option to rename living people to 'Living' or some other fixed text?

I personally don't use the Living Flag as I keep forgetting to set it! I use RP to exclude all people born after a certain year totally, and exclude Birth details and rename the individual if they're born after another (earlier year) and don't have a death recorded.

I normally set my flag with a Query just before the export, and then tweak any I want to include with more details.

I might do a separate Plug in to set the flag, as that way it can be used when doing reports as well if you needed to.

I'll add exclude all event dates and places for living people as two options, so you could include places but not dates if you wanted. Would that work for you.

Hi Jane,

I use your FH Conversion but always use the Split Tree Helper first to remove any unwanted data from a copy of my main Gedcom. So the only option I would need is to convert and resize images.

I have done stage 1 the image link convert
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1367679/Convert ... nks.fh_lua

You need to export/split tree your file first and then load the file to run the plugin.

N.B When it completes the images won't show up until you reload the file, but you can see them in Work With External File links.

I'll convert the Dialogue to a better one when the basic coding is complete.

There is a wishlist item - 'Either remove or maintain the GIVN and SURN Tags (484)'

If it is not in FH5 I thought that it would be an ideal candidate for a plugin. Perhaps incorporated in your Export Clean Up.

I have just added the export clean up to the Plugin Store called Clean Living People.

I have left the Media conversion separate, as I think they both have their uses standalone.
