When I attempt to run the Change Any Fact Tag plugin I get the following error immediately.

I believe I just downloaded this from the FHUG downloads page quite awhile ago and to the best of my recollection I have not made any changes to it.

Thanks,

Bill

Thank you Bill for reporting this problem.
It should be fixed in the next release.

I think it is to do with the Attributes of the Military.fhf file and that the Plugin is trying to open it with Write access instead of Read access.
In any case please check the file Attributes as follows.
Right-click on the file and choose Properties and near the bottom ensure Attributes Read-only and Hidden are not ticked.

Please let me know if this workaround works.

Mike,

I checked and sure enough the read only attribute was on. I had three other custom fact types and the read only attribute was on for them as well. I turned them all off and the error went away.

Thanks,

Bill

Bill, thank you for confirming the Read-only scenario.
I apologise for causing the bug, but I thank you for bringing it to my attention, as it could have gone undetected for quite a while.

However, this may be indicative of another problem, either with your PC setup, or with FH V5.
Can you please check ALL other Custom DOWNLOAD files in both FH V4 and FH V5.
These could be Diagrams, Fact Types, Queries, Reports, Text Schemes, and even Plugins.

If they ALL have the Read-only Attribute set, then I think this means some of your folder settings may need changing.
It also suggests that you would NOT be able to change any of these Custom Downloads and Save the changes.

If only FH V5 Downloads have the Read-only Attribute set, then this should be reported via the V5 Beta Testing forum.

Mike,

I checked the other files that I have downloaded into my Calico Pie CUSTOM sub-folders.

All of the fact types were downloaded before FH V5 came out. They were originally downloaded and used in FH V4. I then copied them over for use in FH V5. They all had the read only attribute set on.

All of the plug-ins were downloaded using FH V5 and none have the read only attribute set on.

All of the queries were downloaded before FH V5 came out. They were originally downloaded and used in FH V4. I then copied them over for use in FH V5. A few, but not all, of them have the read only attribute set on.

I don't remember where I saw it, but I think I read somewhere here on the FHUG forums that someone had a read only attribute problem related to downloading things using Firefox. I also use Firefox. I did check many of the non FH related files I have downloaded using Firefox, but none of them have the read only attribute set on.

Not sure what is going on and how it is sometimes getting set on for some downloads.

Thanks,

Bill

I think the Forum posting Deleting Plugins explains what is happening:
http://www.fhug.org.uk/cgi-bin/index.cg ... y&num=5206

Please read it right through to the end of part [2].
It seems that when performing any download with Firefox:-
If you choose Save File it does NOT set the file as Read-only.
If you choose Open with Family Historian then the file is marked as Read-only.
When FH V5 (and presumably FH V4) imported the download it retained the Read-only setting.

This should be fixed in the current FH V5 Beta release.
But any pre-existing downloaded files are not corrected.
