Plugin updating incorrectly

Post by johnmorrisoniom » 02 Feb 2012 19:16

I updated Janes Ancestors UK Census Checker plugin on both my PC's the same way, but with different results.
Win XP & IE8 click on download, choose open. Plugin is downloaded and I get a message saying that plugin of that name already exits and will be overwritten. Click OK. Plugin is updated.
W7x64 & IE9. Installed as before, but this time no message about plugin already exists, but message saying that Ancestors UK Census Checker(1) is installed. Both versions are present on the plugin list.
I have not tried with chrome yet to see what happens

Plugin updating incorrectly

Unfortunately I think this is a 'feature' of IE.

I thought MS had fixed it in IE8, but it sounds like they have broken it again.

If you open a file directly it gives it a different name to if you save it first, even when the server tells it the correct file name.
