Version 2.2 is now available from the Plugin Store, and includes the enhancements below:
1. Redesigned GUI following user suggestions to simplify the interface. Many options have been moved to a new Set Preference Options tab.
2. Updated online Help & Advice from the FHUG Knowledge Base.
3. Improved Statistics, and the Locations and Individuals lists are now coloured coded to match.
4. Location text enclosed in 'double quotes' is excluded from the Geocoder as requested by John M, and blank Locations are ignored.
5. Zoom levels are now adjusted on the Google Map as Bill H originally expected.

Thanks again to Jane for all the help and advice.

Mike,

For some reason, I'm getting two markers sometimes when plotting a single place.

Image

What I did was to plot a place and then I went to another place and plotted it.  Both places then appeared on the map with markers.

I tried clearing the entry and re-plotting it, but I still got two markers.  The only way I was able to get rid of the two markers was to exit the plugin and go back in and re-plot the place.

Am I doing something wrong?

Of course, now I can't get it to happen again.  I'll keep playing around and try to see if I can reproduce it.

Mike,

I think I know what I did.  I was playing around with the new GUI and did something I probably wouldn't usually do, but here is what happened.

On the 'Geocode Location Plots' tab, I selected one place from the dropdown list.  That gave me a marker.  I then switched to the 'Set Preference Options' tab and didn't change anything.   Then I went back to the 'Geocode Location Plots' tab and the marker was still there for the first place.  I then selected a close by, but different place from the drop down.  This added a marker for the new place and kept the one for the old place, so I ended up with two markers.

I also tested switching from the 'Geocode Location Plots' tab to the 'Create Web Page Maps' tab and back and had the same results.

Not sure if this is a bug or if I just shouldn't do this.

Bill,
Sorry, that is a bug.
I had noticed it on odd occasions after a change to the Google Map plot marking code, but could not pinpoint what caused it.
Your diagnosis helped a lot - thank you.
It will be fixed in the next version.
