As you are working on an enhancement, would it be possible to make it so that if you didn't have say a birth or a census that it then wouldn't leave a line gap in the text where the birth or census would be? Not a big issue if you can't. I had put in extra census lines but it looked a bit messy when there were missing census.

I did think about it but it would mean building a more complex template language, to allow conditioning of text based on the existence of field values. I'll think about it. The editing routine is done, if you download again.

I had an easy thought and it now removes any lines from the output which only have <br /> on them.

I can't keep up with you!

How about Spouse 2 can you hide that if not used?

I've just noticed that when you OK the HTML window it runs the plugin as well so you cannot then amend "Comments" or add Tags.

I think that's getting quite specific, you could just put it on the same line as the 1st spouse with no title.

That's ok I thought I asked just in case it was something simple.

One last thing which is also specific could you tell me where to insert code to create a tag that will be for every item from FH imported into EverNote. Instead of having several Notebooks I've decided I can do the same thing with Tags. I have made a Tag "FH" then put all the others (birth, death etc) inside that. So I would like to make a tag "FH, " a permanent fixture rather than one have to remember to key in each time. It won't be the end of the world if it's not possible.

Thanks for all your help.

I was thinking about adding that as an option. I'll have a look in the morning if I get a chance.

Option for setting default keywords is now in

I have had a more thoughts and offer a few suggestions

For the Spouses I have used "Spouse(s)" then line breaks below with no text just the code, so that the names appear one under each other below the word Spouse(s).

For Tags I will be happy if all notes are just automatically tagged with FH. That way if I do use EverNote for anything else I can use a different tag to separate them. I don't see there will be a need to also tag them with birth, death etc.

Is there a need to have the name at the top of the Note 3 times? It takes up a lot of space. The one at the very top (Note subject?) is used in EverNote listing and is formatted differently in each Operating System, with IOS it's a pale green hardly noticeable! So is required but not really suitable to use as the note title. The "Name" one (H3) I was able to remove via the HTML Template. The Title one (H2) I couldn't remove, or change the size, because of error messages. Until, that is I found the code in line 30 to change it from H2 to H3. Then I could change likewise in the html template. I also included the ID number with both instances of the name, my ancestors were very fond of using the same names. So I quite often need to use the id or the birth year in order to separate them.
There is the equivalent of two row spaces top and bottom of the Title. Not a big issue but it is waste when viewing on a smartphone. Using EverNote I was able to edit out one of the rows below.

Please use or not as you see fit, I realise others will probably differ on what they would like.

I appreciate all that you are doing.

Thanks

If you post the current template you are using, I can change it, you should be able to change the template for all the suggestions you have just made.

My template is now practically the same as yours. The only differences I can see.

I was using <H3> for the heading but that can only be changed after altering line 30 in plugin code from <H2> to <H3>. Also if possible loosing a row space from between the title heading and the born data.

The ID number included on the Note title header which I could only do using the old html template in the plugin code at line 90.

Line 30 was actually not needed so I removed it. The spacing seems to be something Evernote is adding for heading levels.

I have tinkered with the template and added a margin-top: 0px and it's reduced the margin at the top.

I was thinking of adding to the template logic so that you could write

{INDI.BIRT|<br />|.}

Where <br /> was the prefix if the data reference exists and . was the suffix would that make sense as a syntax?

I have added the reference to the default title for the note.

I'm no expert on this code, the way I do it is to try it and see what happens. I have added baptism to the birth line on mine as it is often the easier to find. I've done the same for death and burial. So how would that affect your idea?

I have had one more stunning idea  . I use that "Work in Progress / To Do" query. Where you list To Do items in a note field, would it be possible to lift that note field and display it under "Comments"?

Unfortunately not as Named Lists are not accessible from Plugins.

If you used the "other" attribute based To Do system you could use the Notes from there.

Point me in the right direction to find that one, please.

Sorry just read it properly I use the custom attribute method.

Then just edit your template to include the data reference for your To Do attribute under the Comments section.

It's probably something like INDI._ATTR-TO_DO[1].NOTE2[1] so wrap the {} around it and add it in to the template

Just jumping back in to this thread to update Jane on my progress. What with visitors and the moving of the FHUG website, I lost track of this. I downloaded the latest version of the Plugin and have been trying it out today with complete success! No crashes, and the notes are all successfully synced in Evernote and displaying correctly. Very impressive! Many thanks, Jane, for all the work you've put in on this. I'll continue to compare it with my current method (Named List) to see which works better for me.

Yes that worked just as you had written it.

What about your other idea, {INDI.BIRT|<br />|.} , do you want me to try anything there?

I have not coded it yet, I'll look at doing it, probably not this weekend though.
