Check for Unlinked Media

When running this plugin, the result set flags up media items which are in fact linked. As I've not seen other reports of this, I suspect there is a problem with the links, but I've checked everything I can think of, and I don't know what the problem is.

A couple of examples would help us to work out what you are seeing.

Here's a couple of images Jane. The first one shows the results set and the second shows the 1881 census source for William Adshead. Hope this helps.

Can you open up the media record, so you can see the File name as that is what is being matched on.

After having another look at the first media item I've found that it was linked to another individual. I'll look through the list again to see if there are any further errors. I'll get back to you later.

Dave, what the Plugin is saying is that those 10 files exist in your Media folder, but are NOT linked to any Multimedia Record.

You have an image for Multimedia Record Title: Census 1881 ADSHEAD, William, but what is the File name of the file it is linked to?

In the Multimedia Records pane top left, click on the [+] box to expand the record.

What does the File field say? (you may have to scroll right to see the details.)

I suspect it will be different from the entry in the Result Set - either a different folder path, or different filename, or type.

It may help to work in the Records Window on the Multimedia tab.
But this is hidden by default.
So use View > Record Lists > Multimedia or Tools > Preferences > Records Window > Record Type Display Options > Always show all of them.

Mike

Here's a screenshot showing two multimedia records. The first one, the marriage of George Webster is flagged by the plugin as not linked. The second one is not flagged, but apart from the file extension looks identical. I have also looked at The Work with External File Links and the George Webster marriage is shown as being linked.

If you actually look in the media folder with explorer is there just one file with the name? There isn't another with a extra space in the name somewhere?

You have to look carefully.

In the first Multimedia Record the File field is:
MediaBMDMarriagesMarriage 1907 WEBSTER, George Nicholas & THOMAS, Maria.jpg
which exactly matches the Title field.

In the Plugin Result Set the file is:
...mediaBMDMarriagesMarriage 1907 WEBSTER, George & THOMAS, Maria.jpg
which is a different file without Nicholas, and this is the file that is NOT linked.

Thanks for pointing that out Mike, and jane, you were right. I have two copies of this image. One with just the first name of George Webster and one with both first names.

I'll go through these files again and check them all. Thanks for your help.
