Flexible CSV importer - name type

Hi
I am using the Flexible CSV importer - a good tool to append more data for existing persons (with the REFN column as key).
But I have a wish for one more field: The name type that can be filled in for a name through the All panel (f.ex. "Maiden"). I am using this to hold different variants of names - and a mass import from a csv would help my very much to get this data into FH.
Could that be solved as a detail level under P.Name?
Best regards,
Øivind

Try the attached prototype
Flexible CSV Importer plugin Version 1.9.2 Date 05 Jun 2023.
It allows a field such as
P.NAME.TYPE with a value such as
married.
Remember this must be in a second row but with the original REFN to add a 2nd instance of P.NAME and P.NAME.TYPE
e.g.
Code: Select all
REFN P.NAME P.NAME.TYPE P.SEX
ID 1 Elizabeth Mayes F
ID 1 Elizabeth Packer married

I have tested your attached version of the plugin. I suppose I should get "type" as a value in "detail label"? But there are only the name parts and source fields. Something wrong?

Did you see my example CSV code?
What exactly did you put in the CSV file?
You put P.NAME.TYPE as a CSV column header just like you put P.NAME as a column header.
( I've just realised that the plugin does not handle the Detail label correctly for the TYPE field, but that does not prevent it from importing a P.NAME.TYPE column. I'll fix the Detail label entry later. )
Did the plugin say it was all valid?
I would expect to look in the All tab and expand the Name field by clicking [+] on the left to reveal the Type field.

I did not execute the "Import" because I thought something was wrong when I did not see type in the detail field... Tested again - and it works fine!
When I tested yesterday (without the type field) I think the names I imported through the csv file was appended (ie FH kept the existing namesnand added the new ones). While today (with the new version), it seems to replace names. Is that a change (or may be I remember wrong...)? Does not matter very much, as long as I know what is happening.
Thanks for excellent help!
Best regards,
Øivind

The plugin will match the REFN and Names (P.NAME) in the CSV with existing REFN and Name fields in the Project.
If it finds a match then any other values on the same row as the Name will get imported against that Name.
If it does not find a match then that new Name is added for the REFN.

Hello. Been too good weather for genealogy here, so not tested before today! But used the new version now and it works as expected - incl showing "type" in detail field.
Thanks again!

Hello.
Still working on cleaning up my name data - with your csv importer.
I am using "NameUsed" in FH, and that is not supported by the plugin.
Is it possible to get that in? (as a new detail label under Name)
Best regards,
Øivind
