Plugin Rename Source Media

Post by danielvb » 20 Feb 2023 19:04

Regarding the plugin Rename Source Media, I found that when to rename media, certain characters like "ç" or "ã" among others, will not display correctly, and will be replaced by random characters. So the plugin works and renames, but renames incorrectly.

Is there something I must change within the plugin?

If you rename the file does your current windows version correctly support the file names?

If so the plugin may need rewriting completely to use the unicode compliant routines. Unfortunately I will not be able to look at this as I am soon off on my travels.

Yes, my windows version correctly support the filenames with those characters.

Using Ancestral Sources renames media files correctly when those characters are present. However the plugin does not.

It looks like this plugin dates from early FH7 beta testing, as the store version is (at least) the third revision, but still predates FH7 release by 3 months.

I assume this was before the enhanced tools that were developed for just this scenario in FH7 were finalised, as it still uses the old library routines that are limited to a much smaller range of accented or non-Latin characters.
