Hi,

I am trying to export to Gedcom Pro and I am getting the following error:-

I have run all of the checks and plugins recommended but still get this error.

Any ideas?

Sorry about that.
At that point, the plugin is trying to copy a Media file to the Export folder.
The Media file is linked to your Project and would usually reside in the Media sub-folder but could be anywhere.
The Export folder is usually in the Public folder of your Project but could be anywhere.

The reference to the cloud file suggests that either the Media file or the Export folder is in cloud storage.
I have not experienced that error message before.

At that point, the plugin is copying an image file that needs no part-frame cropping or is a non-image file such as audio, video, word-processor, PDF, etc. Do you have any non-image Media files like that?

In Tools > External File Links... are all the File Links listed under Project Data Folder - Media?

On the Basic Options tab, what Multimedia Preference did you choose?
What is the file path to the Export folder?

If it is not obvious what Media file is causing the problem, I'll produce a diagnostic version of the plugin for you to run that will identify the full file path that is invoking the error.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply.

Answer to your questions:-

At that point, the plugin is copying an image file that needs no part-frame cropping or is a non-image file such as audio, video, word-processor, PDF, etc. Do you have any non-image Media files like that? I have about 2000 media files, many are .doc, .pdf, .bmp, .djvu, .png,.tif but the vast majority are .jpeg

In Tools > External File Links... are all the File Links listed under Project Data Folder - Media? of the 2000 media files 3 were not under the project data folder. No idea why they were there but I have moved them to the project data folder

On the Basic Options tab, what Multimedia Preference did you choose? Use jpeg format for all exported image files

What is the file path to the Export folder? C:\Users\mitch\OneDrive\Family Historian\Mitchell_Bench Families 2019 clean\Public\Export

Even after making sure the images were under the project folder the plugin still failed at the same point, ie 66%

On the Basic Options tab, what Multimedia Preference: did you choose?
That is the option on the second row near the top, not the Shared Settings lower down.
Actually, a screenshot of the Basic Options tab would be useful.
See the FHUG Knowledge Base Forum Usage Tips under Attachments and Taking Screenshots.

In the meantime, I'll create a diagnostic version of the plugin to help identify the Media file.

Unfortunately, no screenshot was attached. Did you use the ATTACHMENTS tab and the ADD FILES button?

Diagnostic Export Gedcom File plugin Version 5.1.1 Date 28 Nov 2022 is attached in a ZIP file as it's too big otherwise.

Download the ZIP file, right-click and Extract All, then double-click the Export Gedcom File.fh_lua file to install the Plugin.

Run it as normal from FH and the problem Media file should produce an error message such as shown below.
To terminate the export process, bring up the Exporting GEDCOM Progress bar and click Stop Exporting GEDCOM.
(You may have to click a few times to get it to stick.)
Then click OK in the error message box.

Copy File Error
Access to the cloud file is denied.
From File:
C:\Users\mitch\OneDrive\Family Historian\Mitchell_Bench Families 2019 clean\Mitchell_Bench Families 2019 clean.fh_data\Media\abcxyz.pdf
To File:
C:\Users\mitch\OneDrive\Family Historian\Mitchell_Bench Families 2019 clean\Public\Export\abcxyz.pdf

Thanks Mike,

Not sure what happened to the screenshot. I had to try several times as the original screen shot was too big but it accepted it in the end.

Anyway, it doesn't matter as your revised plugin caught the error. It was a single .jpg file that was corrupt. When I went to view the image in FH it said it was an incorrect format or corrupt file. I replaced the file with a backup version and the plugin worked correctly.

Thanks for all your help.

I'm glad that the problem file has been resolved.
It seems likely that I will build that diagnostic message into the next published version of the plugin.
