Hi

A friend of mine is having an issue trying to change Baptisms to Christenings
FH 6 Plugin 3.6

I ran the plug in 'Change any Fact Tag' to change my baptisms to christenings and the following error came up

I took her gedcom and ran it using FH6 and plugin 3.6 on my machine with no problems.

Does anything jump out as to what the issue might be?
The line that stands out to me is
[string "C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\..."]:634: Unable to open file in "ab" mode.

But I have no idea what it means.

The problem is the file path & name is too long for Windows to handle. i.e. more than 256 characters.
C:\Users\wilpa\Documents\Family Historian Projects\Johis Whateley bc1563 26 August 2022 current\Johis Whateley bc1563 26 August 2022 current.fh_data\Johis Whateley bc1563 26 August 2022 current - Copy.fh_data\Plugin Data\Change Any Fact Tag - 2022-08-26 122302.log

Also, that is a very strange Project data folder path and normally should be:
C:\Users\wilpa\Documents\Family Historian Projects\Johis Whateley bc1563 26 August 2022 current\Johis Whateley bc1563 26 August 2022 current.fh_data\Plugin Data\

i.e. Why is there sub-folder \Johis Whateley bc1563 26 August 2022 current - Copy.fh_data\ that seems to be a copy?

Many thanks for that info.
Unfortunately my friend is out at present, but I will get her to shorten the path and see how it goes then.
It would certainly explain why it works on my machine and not hers.

Dave, I am more concerned about the additional Copy folder layer.
I suspect that in the Project Window it complains about that folder.
That is what really needs fixing and then the path won't be too long.

Can your friend explain where the Project GEDCOM file is located and associated folders such as Media, Charts, Snapshots.
Are they in:
C:\Users\wilpa\Documents\Family Historian Projects\Johis Whateley bc1563 26 August 2022 current\Johis Whateley bc1563 26 August 2022 current.fh_data\
or
C:\Users\wilpa\Documents\Family Historian Projects\Johis Whateley bc1563 26 August 2022 current\Johis Whateley bc1563 26 August 2022 current.fh_data\Johis Whateley bc1563 26 August 2022 current - Copy.fh_data\
which is an abnormal Project folder structure. See Understanding Projects Project Structure.

Hi Mike

Problem solved.

What she had done was make a copy of the project but instead of putting it within Family Historian Projects, she managed to get in within the original project folder - hence the long path.

Scrapped the copy, made a copy of the project in the correct place and everything worked OK.
