I'm in the process of creating a Greek translation pack for FH. I've looked at the associated help files and think that I have a good grasp on how it works.
Having worked on translating a single Publish report, I am a little confused as the report translation appears to be constructed using a combination of Translation table entries and Fact definition formatting and translations. I find that some fact/phrase translation is done using the Translation tables only which I find limited and inflexible. Fact definition translations however are logic driven and can be used on a myriad of different phrases to produce grammatically correct translations.
Do I have my wires crossed on how translations work? Anyone know if the translation can be performed using only Fact definitions?

Re: Creation of Greek language pack
For best results you might need to use a combination of the two. If you don't use a Translation plugin as well you will end up with some stock phrases.
Don't forget to work through the plugin code as well as the simple tables, that is where the "best" conversions happen.
If you have feedback on things you can't translate using the tables and the plugin it is worth rasing a ticket with Calico and see if they can suggest a work around. If you have not already read https://www.family-historian.co.uk/help ... epack.html it is well worth working through in detail.

Re: Creation of Greek language pack
I found it helpful to review the other Language Packs and their associated Plugins to see how they used the features.
The Fact Definition Language Variant... features only apply to Narrative Reports and not other Reports.

Thanks Jane for the quick response...
The main issues are:
I've tried functions such as
It will probably be quicker and easier to work through Calico support, thank you once again for your help...
The main issues are:
- There must always be a definite article before every Greek proper name
- There must be a gender-independent preposition before place names
If you are referring to lang.fh_lua then yes, I have modified it as required.
I have read the help article, it is the reason I have gotten as far as I have. Translations using the miscellaneous table do not produce grammatically correct sentences i.e.Don't forget to work through the plugin code as well as the simple tables, that is where the "best" conversions happen.

I've tried functions such as

Re: Creation of Greek language pack
I've briefly looked at the French language pack, I may need to have a closer look.
I did not know that, thanks (I think?)... Looks like I'll need to contact Calico Pie about what can be done using the Miscellaneous table and the lang.fh_lua filetatewise wrote: The Fact Definition Language Variant... features only apply to Narrative Reports and not other Reports.
