Improve Website or CD DVD HTML plugin GEDmill FHv7

Post by IanBoreham »

When I use the Improve Website or CD DVD HTML plugin (v3.2) with FHv7.0.11
and go to Tree Diagrams
and click on "Insert GEDmill minitrees into featured pages"
I get the error message: Error! Cannot find GEDmill_Output folder

Where is it looking please?
That is, under which folder should there be a sub-folder called GEDmill_Output

Hi Ian.
Have you installed and run the GEDmill application as explained in the Help & Advice page:
https://pluginstore.family-historian.co ... agrams-tab

That should automatically create the GEDmill_Output folder alongside the Project GEDCOM file.
That is where the plugin is looking to find it.

Mike,

I thought I'd accepted the default GEDmill_Output target folder,
however I might not have done.

GEDmill doesn't give me the option to reset it to the default folder.

Therefore, I've uninstalled the program, reinstalled the program, and run it again.

Unfortunately, it has remembered the folder I'd previously used, so I cannot reset it to a default folder.

The plugin should find the GEDmill_Output folder anywhere within the FH Project that holds the GEDCOM file.

So at the GEDmill page where Folder: is chosen, click Browse and navigate into say the <projectname>.fh_data folder or the Public folder and Make New Folder named GEDmill_Output

As a matter of interest, what is the full path of the folder that GEDmill is currently trying to use?

Mike,

Thanks for your help, which has enabled me to work out where it should be.

The folder path for the data files is
D:\Family Historian Projects\Boreham\Boreham.fh_data\Packages\AsAt20220610\data files

I moved the sub-folder \GEDmill_Output
to form the following path
D:\Family Historian Projects\Boreham\Boreham.fh_data\Packages\AsAt20220610\data files\GEDmill_Output

The plugin is now happy with the location of GEDmill_Output

A really good plugin!

Ian, that location for the GEDmill_Output folder is not so good.
It is inside the data files folder that gets sent to the CD/DVD or website.
You don't want all those dozens of GEDmill files clogging up there.

This is a better location and is the default position:
D:\Family Historian Projects\Boreham\Boreham.fh_data\GEDmill_Output

Mike,

I tried your suggested location for the files, and that works even better.

Many thanks for your help.

I shall enjoy using this plugin.
