Export Gedcom - TNG - BAPM v CHR

Post by quarlton »

Hi

It's just been pointed out to me that if a person has no birth but does have a baptism, TNG doesn't display this in search results.

TNG will only display the date if it is a CHR.

I've spoken to Darrin Lythgoe and apparently it's on his wish list.

Not wanting to change my FH data to CHR, I wondered if there was a way within the Export Gedcom plugin to export BAPM as CHR.

I've looked but can't see such an option, could you let me know if there is one please?

Alernatively I could load the exported gedcom and run the Change Any Fact plugin.

Many thanks

Probably the easiest way is to export your gedcom. The use a standard text editor such as Notepad++ and do a search and replace.

Thanks for the suggestion Colin, unfortunately the user isn't really up to that.

For the time being the easiest option is to run the Change Any Fact Tag plugin.
I guess you know there is a shortcut button to convert Baptisms to Christenings.
Then run the Export Gedcom File plugin.
Finally, use the Edit > Undo Plugin Updates command to reverse the Baptism/Christening changes before closing FH.

I will have a look at adding a Baptism to Christening option to the Export Gedcom File plugin.

Mike

Thank you very much for the response.
I must say that I had not noticed the Undo option before.

Export Gedcom File plugin Version 5.1 Date 24 Nov 2022 is now in the Plugin Store.

On the Other Options tab there is now a Baptism Event 1 BAPM: Change to Christening option.
That changes any Baptism Event without a preceding Birth Event into a Christening Event as discussed.
It is enabled by default for TNG.
