I want to use FH7 on my laptop for a bit. I've upgraded both systems to the latest version of family historian and the latest version of the plug-in. I had no difficulty with backup. But when I restore I get
"ERROR: Registry Key data not saved by REG QUERY HKLM/SOFTWARE/WOW6432Node\Calico Pie. No bytes written to C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Plugin Data\Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings.req. Plugin can not proceed. Plugin will be closed."
Both computers are Win10, but different versions. Would upgrading the laptop to match the desktop help?
I don't necessarily need the registry settings backed up, I'm only using the laptop for a weekend. But I did back up the registry.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Backup and Restore Family Historian Plugin
Jackie, sorry about that.
I wonder if the laptop is a 32-bit PC?
i.e. In Start > Settings > System > About under Device specifications ~ System type does it say 32-bit operating system?

Re: Backup and Restore Family Historian Plugin
Jackie, please run the attached Backup and Restore Diagnosis plugin on your laptop.
Tell me what it reports. It should display two messages similar to these:
strRegKey = AMD64 so StrProcArch64 = true
Registry Query Success.

Re: Backup and Restore Family Historian Plugin
I think I have found the problem that is due to the laptop never having been used with FH Plugins before and reveals a bug in my Plugin for such 'virgin' PC.
If I am correct then the attached Backup and Restore Diagnosis plugin will say Registry Query Success.
Then the Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings plugin should also work now.

Re: Backup and Restore Family Historian Plugin
That didn't work, but..... I decided to try some other plugins. They didn't work either. Turns out 6 months or a year ago I had set this laptop and my desktop up to use directory junctions and sync with Google. Then Google changed their sync program but I never updated this computer. End of story, the plugin data folder no longer existed. Put one back and all plugins are running, including backup and restore. Sorry I wasted your time. You are always such a help.
Thanks,
Jackie

Re: Backup and Restore Family Historian Plugin
That is consistent with my diagnosis ~ a missing C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Plugin Data folder.
I thought perhaps my plugins were not creating it, but your explanation solves the riddle.
