Sort Date on Facts in Export Gedcom Plugin

Post by jbtapscott » 17 Feb 2021 17:40

Question for Mike. Not sure if this is a new (V7) issue or whether it was the same in V6. I am using latest FH and Export Plugin with the latter set to GST (all options unchanged since V6 unless V7 upgrade has changed some). I have been removing Sort Dates applied by V6 Sort Date plugin as I make modifications to facts.

I have an individual with a Death event Date of "February 1846" and a Burial event Date of "22 February 1846" - neither fact has a Sort Date and are appearing in the correct order (viz. Death before Burial) in the All tab. After running the Export plugin, both facts have (as expected) Sort Dates but the date added to the Death fact is after the Burial fact:

0 @I2342@ INDI
1 NAME Jane /Dinham/
1 SEX F
1 BIRT
2 DATE BET JUL 1839 AND SEP 1839
2 _SDATE 1 JUL 1839
2 PLAC , , Glastonbury, Somerset, England
2 SOUR @S198@
2 SOUR @S4373@
1 DEAT
2 DATE FEB 1846
2 _SDATE 28 FEB 1846
2 SOUR @S198@
1 BURI
2 DATE 22 FEB 1846
2 _SDATE 22 FEB 1846
2 PLAC , , High Ham, Somerset, England

The Help indicates that "... if all the facts shown on the All tab are in chronological order, then that order will be reflected in the Sort Date of each fact..." which is what I expected here as there are no Sort Dates (actual or LMO, etc) on the facts. Am I missing something or will I have to work through all facts that have no day number to add a Sort Date or is this a bug? Thanks

Sorry! It is a bug.
I have been working with John Cardinal to resolve various issues with Export Gedcom File and the new FH V7 features.
In the next version of the Plugin, only actual _SDATE entries from your Project will appear in the exported GEDCOM.
John has provided trial versions of the Plugin to his GedSite beta testers and that revealed one or two bugs.

Thanks Mike - I'll hold off making any changes.

In the meantime, is there any easy way to remove all the Sort Dates added to Individuals facts by the V6 plugin?. I can then look at adding the odd one or two important ones back in manually.

Yes, the usual technique of a Query that lists them in a Column so the cells can be selected and deleted.
e.g.
A custom Query derived from the All Facts standard Query with the additional %FACT._SDATE% Column.
