Re: Create Source From Template- Problem
Well I did my marriage and added it using a template and it did almost everything, I never updated my wife's name and never added witnesses although it did add the Minister to the witnesses. So still not worth doing it this way as I can't trust it as most of my tree uses the Scottish templates. Maybe have to have another look at AS 7.
Should I be raising this with CP?

Modifying the marriage DEA to allow you to define your own templates (including Scottish ones) is on my to-do list. If you do want to raise an issue with the existinf=g DEA, do it via a comment on the plugin store.

Re: Create Source From Template- Problem
Yes I know about Undo Plugin Updates, but I am really just messing about with a new project, so no need to worry about what happens with this. I won't start my redo until I am happy that everything is hunky dory with the templates. Sorry didn't realise it was you who was doing the templates I was using, I thought that CP had did the ones that were available at the moment.ColeValleyGirl wrote: ↑10 Jan 2021 12:07
I assume you kNow about Edit > Undo Plugin Updates, which will undo anything the plugin does AS LONG AS YOU DO IT BEFORE CLOSING FH.
So ignore my last comment about contacting CP and get well soon.

If I had a clue about what you were talking about Helen (existinf=g) I would do something about it
. I can quite happily wait until all is well with the templates and yourself.

I modified my copy of Record Birth Data (UK).fh_lua to prevent the Scottish Birth Certificate Marriage Address error.
I added the following at line 759:

Thanks Tlwa01
Doesn't help me one bit as I don't have a clue what to do with the information you have supplied and to be quite honest having read it, I am not sure that I want to know either
.
Again thanks for your reply.

Re: Create Source From Template- Problem
Hi all
I have copied and pasted the line that Tlwa01 into line 759 and put a blank line under it (as there was one there before I rudely used the space). It has cured my problem, so thanks for that Tlwa01. I presume what I have done won't cause any other problems with the plugin and if for any other reason I have to reinstall FH7 do I have to make that change again?
Now that I have got passed my initial problem and clicking Ok almost all the information has been filled in to my project. I now have three other questions that hopefully someone can answer-
1 Why does it add two residencies to my father? Possibly because he is the informant and I have filled his address in that section as well
2 Why does it ask whether I want my mothers name updated to use her Maiden surname, but doesn't ask to up date my name (I added my middle name to the template)?
3 Where is the time of birth? It asks for the time of birth in the template but I can't find it anywhere.

I would keep a backup copy of the plugin, as you won't be able to download your 'doctored' version.GeneSniper wrote: ↑15 Jan 2021 11:56I have copied and pasted the line that Tlwa01 into line 759 and put a blank line under it (as there was one there before I rudely used the space). 1. Yes -- if you specify your father (or mother) as informant, don't fill in any information in the informant section that you've already added for that individual elsewhere.Now that I have got passed my initial problem and clicking Ok almost all the information has been filled in to my project. 2. It doesn't check for name changes except for the maiden name one -- I'll put it on my list.
3. Time of birth is should show up in the Principal section... Can you check that line 756 says
Code: Select all
table.insert(masterForms['Scotland']['sections']['principal']['fields'],6,{tag='TIME',type="STRING",label='Birth time',value=''})Helen Wright

Re: Create Source From Template- Problem
I would also like to share some modifications I have made to the autotext for the Birth Certificate (Scotland).
This is found under Tools->Manage Autotext->Autotext for Plugins->Record Birth Data (UK)->Birth Certificate (Scotland).
I have replaced {BIRTH.YEAR}{BIRTH.MONTH}{BIRTH.DAY} with {DT-DATE}
and
{REG.YEAR}{REG.MONTH}{REG.DAY} with {REG.DATE}
This gives the date in the "day month year" format instead of YEAR, MONTH,DAY

Helen
Yes line 756 is the same as the line you posted. Still can't find time of birth by principal section do you mean in the Note section of the property box? Is there a certain format that it has to be inserted in 10:10pm or 22:10 or some other way?
Can I also say you lot are dragging me into a place I really didn't want to go
, I'm all for the simple life, insert information and job done. That was why I waited for FH7 before I started the redo of my tree, fill in template and it puts everything in correct place, that way I don't find I have changed the way I inserted things half way through (Yes I did
)

Re: Create Source From Template- Problem
If you open the Source you created and click on the "Text from Source" tab you will see a table that closely resembles the certificate you took the information from. The time of birth is found there.
Please remember that FH7 is in it's infancy and things like Plug-In files will evolve over time, hopefully the Plug-In writers will add all the suggested modifications and life will be simple for you again.

Re: Create Source From Template- Problem
Ok, so you're entering the birth time using the DEA and wondering where it's saved.
tlwa01 is right -- it's only recorded in Text from Source. Gedcom (and therefore FH) don't support associating a time with a fact, so there's nowhere to put it other than Text from Source (which the DEA does) or the Fact Note (which you can do manually by opening the relevant fact from the DEA results window). The DEA doesn't populate Fact Notes automatically because every user uses them differently.

Re: Create Source From Template- Problem
Thanks for that Tiwa01 and Helen, I always used to put the time and birth weight if known in the Note for the Birth Fact and I was looking for it in a Note somewhere, that was why I couldn't find it.
I hope you are right as I like the way the template adds the data in to the citation. It is so much easier on the eye. Get working plugin writers, in the words of the immortal Donald J Trump "Let's make FH7 great again" (A legend in his own head) I'm sure that's what he said

The Record Birth Data (UK) DEA has been updated in the plugin store to fix the 'Marriageaddress' problem.
