FH7 - Testing homemade plugins

Hi all,

I'm getting ready to test the (more than I thought) plugins that I have written over the years.

I'll being going through and checking the items mentioned in the Plugin help 'Converting Lua 5.1 plugins to Lua 5.3.'

Is IUP 3.28 backwards compatible with the previous version of IUP? Am I going to need to make changes here?

Since notes are now rich text, I'm assuming that I will need to convert all instances of note handling.

I'd appreciate hearing from others who have already been doing this. What other kinds of general problems did you find?

Thanks,
Shosh

I have attached +a Backwards Compatibility Code Snippets.fh_lua which is my annotated crib sheet for updating plugins.
[ EDIT: Attachment deleted as now covered in KB. ]

There are a few backwards compatibility issues with both Lua and IUP but whether they affect your plugins is TBD.

If anything in the crib sheet is unclear just ask.

BTW: Where did you find that Plugin help for converting. I search the new KB for that and found nothing.

Hi Mike,

Thank you for the crib sheet.

I'm referring to the 'How to write plugins' help accessed from the plugins screen in fh.

Regards,
Shosh

Ah, yes! I'd overlooked that, but unfortunately, it is incomplete and contains mistakes.

Hopefully, before too long, there will be a KB page covering the topic.

I've set aside this afternoon to make a start on updating the Plugins section in the KB.
