I've been using the Gedcom export plugin with good success to export my TNG website. I also use the Find-Research-Notes plugin and mark my research notes with the tag #RN and enclosed with double brackets. i.e.
[[ This is a research note #RN ]]
On the Gedcom export plugin settings, I have the [[private text option]] on the Basic Options tab set to
"(INCLUDE) Include private text, except [[ ]]"
on the assumption that the "...except [[ ]]" means that private notes will be exported EXCEPT those private notes that are enclosed in [[ ]] . However, the plugin does export my research notes as plain notes, so they show up in my TNG site.
What am I missing here? Does "except" have another meaning here? Is it trying to say INCLUDE the private notes, but REMOVE the brackets?

Re: How to filter #RN notes with the Gedcom export plugin?
I think the Help & Advice for Basic Options says it all:
Remember, the FH term private note text means the text enclosed in [[ brackets ]] and not the text outside the brackets, which is always included unconditionally.
So yes, your last statement is correct.[[private]] Text Option choices:
◦ EXCLUDE removes all [[private]] text from every text field
◦ INCLUDE retains all [[private]] text but removes the [[ brackets ]]
◦ KEEPALL retains all [[private]] text including the [[ brackets ]]
Remember, the FH term private note text means the text enclosed in [[ brackets ]] and not the text outside the brackets, which is always included unconditionally.

Thanks. Fair enough, but IMO, the plugin would be improved by reflecting that level of specificity in the option description. The use of "except [[ ]]" suggests something very different from "...removes the [[brackets]]".tatewise wrote: ↑29 Apr 2020 16:11I think the Help & Advice for Basic Options says it all:So yes, your last statement is correct.[[private]] Text Option choices:

Re: How to filter #RN notes with the Gedcom export plugin?
I will look at rewording the options in the next release of the Plugin.
