Ron, you've somehow got an old copy of the beta -- can you reinstall the plugin from the post at the top of this thread and let me know what happens. It should be attempting to download a zip file not a chm one (which doesn't exist to be downloaded).

I have further questions on the app. separate thread or here? or because mine is a bit off the track, offline? or? because I am sure I will find probs as I misuse things so terribly.

how_to:research_planner#installing_the_plugin|> Installing the Plugin to get a link to the help file...

I could include that info in the error message but it wouldn't be clickable (limitation of iup!) Need to think how best to get the message over.

Can you report all errors and requests for clarification (i.e. where the help file isn't explicit enough -- a different kind of bug) here please.

I am just thinking if others decide to pick this up and beta test before you get it published, it would be handy to have the lua and the help link in one place. rather than hunt the thread for the help.

I have a FACT, TODO, that I need to convert over to use this system. templates? first go...

I've added a link to the installation guidance in the known problems list, for now. Still need to think of a long term solution for communicating it...

Re conversion, once the Task fact definition has been created, I reckon you could use the Change Any Fact Tag plugin to do the conversion -- you won't get the same labelled text etc. for Todos already in existence, but they'll at least be the right fact type.

Just to say - I got the same error message that Ron reported ("Failed to download.....") when I first ran the Plugin (after installing the Plugin dated 11 Nov) BUT.. I clicked OK and also acknowledged the follow up message indicating plugin would try when next run. I then closed FH and restarted it.

Ran Plugin again (no delay from selecting it to actual start / display) and hit the Help button on the Tools tab - Help displayed correctly. Will start reviewing / testing over the next couple of days.

Just to provide some feedback - have been testing over the last few days and have found no issues so far (fully patched Windows 10 Pro / 64-bit). Have found some typos, etc in the Help but will continue to concentrate on functionality testing before reporting these.

Brent, many thanks for the feedback.

And yes, focus on functionality but do include the typos eventually!

2 days ago I downloaded and installed RP Ver 2 with no problems (Windows 10 64 bit). Having spent about 2 hours playing (rather than testing) I have as yet to find anything amiss other than a few typo's. I will sit down tomorrow and use it 'in anger' and see how it goes. All in all it looks great!!

I suppose (hope) it's vaguely encouraging that here are no more bug reports...

Will fix the reported typos, update the help file and Knowledgebase (especially around downloading the Help file) and publish sometime next week.

THe plugin has been submitted to the plugin store and can be downloaded from there.

FYI, I just checked installed plugins against the store, and if you have done any updates since I took the working copy from the thread, it did not retrieve a new copy, it said its up to date. Is that the way it should be?

Ron, the only bugs found during beta testing were related to the help file handling (and contents so you should be fine to keep using the version you've got -- or download the version from the Plugin Store if you'd prefer the final tweaks incorporated.

I guess my question was, is that what you intended, that it doesnt see a different version on update. I am figuring out how to write a plugin that will take my current TODO events and split the notes into the research planner note forms.

Since it was only in Beta testing here, I didn't think I ought to give it a new version when I put it into the Plugin Store -- it's essentially the same code.

Helen,

I have downloaded the V2 planner successfully, but when I run it I get:

Screenshot from 2019-12-01 19-12-43.png (8.06 KiB) Viewed 10482 times
Click Ok and I get

Screenshot from 2019-12-01 19-14-27.png (7.36 KiB) Viewed 10482 times
Which I suspect if something to do with my Wine Configuration
Is there an alternative way to obtain/download "pl support"?

Thanks

David, does how_to:family_historian_v6_on_crossover_wine#plugin_library_modules|> Plugin Library Moduleshelp?

OK so that is what "pl support" means - I had looked for another plug in and failed and assumed it must be some windows library "python language support"? (!)

I have successfully downloaded and extracted pl.zip into the correct folder.

Running now gets me to:
Screenshot from 2019-12-01 23-08-24.png
Screenshot from 2019-12-01 23-08-24.png (9.92 KiB) Viewed 10459 times
Which looks promising (and presumably means I have solved one problem)!

Clicking OK (to acknowledge the above) then gives me
Screenshot from 2019-12-01 23-03-56.png
Screenshot from 2019-12-01 23-03-56.png (9.35 KiB) Viewed 10459 times
Followed by a plug-in exit (which presumably now means I have another problem - but whether it is the plug-in or my set up, I don't know!).

Presumably I should not have had to wait before clicking OK? Not clicking seems to have the plug-in waiting - endlessly.

Thanks

David, that's something to do with running in Wine -- the unzipping mechanism within the plugin isn't working as it should.

how_to:research_planner#installing_the_plugin|> Installing the Plugin will get you going -- there are instructions there on how to deal with the help files manually -- while I puzzle out what might be going wrong.

Edited: I wonder if it's related to the issue here https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13994

David, I may have a solution; although you would need to install another standard library that fH makes available (similar steps to the ones you took with Penlight -- a bit of a pain but you would only need to do it once, rather than every time the plugin was updated). Watch this space....
