Mike

No it still won't download the help file for me. I downloaded the latest version of the plugin from the KB, changed the folder name as you suggested ran the plugin and got the unable to download error message again. But the good news is that I can create a task without getting the error message I got before.

I won't be able to do any more testing until next week, sorry about that.

The only other thing I can think of is that Colin's setup does not like https in the URL.
So one idea is to substitute http on lines 175 and 176 ~ can you try that edit Colin?

That matches all my Plugins that use http to access the FHUG pages.

New version uploaded -- no longer closes after Making Tasks -- however, that means the results window doesn't appear immediately, only when the plugin closes.

Mike, re reports:

I've uploaded a new version of Tasks- Individual without the extraneous name fields. The unsatisfactory spacing I refer to is not the result of not being able to get fields on the same line (it wouldn't make sense for Objective anyway, as it can be a whole paragraph); it's about getting a satisfactory delineation vertically between separate tasks for the same individual.

Try the Narrative Report as I suggested earlier, and the Sentence Template determines the vertical spacing between Tasks.
i.e. <para> at start of each Sentence Template will force Tasks to have an empty blank line between.
The user can decide whether they want Status, Priority, Objective on same line or three separate lines or whatever they prefer just by customising the Sentence Template. The only downside is it can only be in one font style.
It also does not rely on 'magic' Page Layout tab Column Indents to hide the Task label.

BTW: You new Tasks- Individual Report looks identical to previous one except that Task Titles are not italicised.
The vertical spacing is exactly the same.

One way to produce more vertical spacing is to ensure the Note text ends with a blank line or two.
The user would have to be advised to do that.

Mike, yes, I know the new report looks the same as the old -- I only fixed the extraneous names -- didn't do anything to the layout, as I can't find a good solution for the vertical spacing.

I've tried playing around with the Narrative report but even if I edit the sentence, I find the lack of font variation makes it very difficult to read when there are several tasks each with a lot of text for a single individual. Other might take a different view.

It isn't actually important what I think, as I won't ever use a report -- the queries give me everything I need (as I can open all the detail of the Tasks from there, and filter by aspects of the Task such as Status or Source.).

Colin, a faint possibility is that security protection on your PC is blocking the download of the files -- when you're ready to test again, if Mike's suggestions don't help, I'll upload a test.txt file and ask you to edit the plugin to substitute downloading that for the help file...

Helen & Mike

Back after a brief trip to the UK.

I modified the plugin as suggested by Mike. I removed the initially installed plugin and the pl directory. I imported the modified plugin and it worked fine, downloaded the pl files etc and works fine. So I think that the http fix should be applied to the released plugin.

Excellent :D
It sounds like the Apple Mac is being fussy about using the https security protocol without suitable login credentials.

@Mike

This is a bit unusual as I am running this on my iMac which is running a VM with a full copy of Windows 7. I have Avast running on it along with Firefox as the browser so it could be a combination of things. However, I have no problem accessing other https sites from Firefox in the VM.

@Colin ~ When you say "accessing other https sites from Firefox", is that with or without logging into those sites?

There might also be a distinction between human generated URL as in the Firefox address bar, and machine generated URL as in the FH Plugin.

Good point @Mike but FindMyPast hints from FH open fine and they are https so struggling to make sense of the problem.

As a practising pragmatist, I will leave Colin and Mike to debate the niceties and just fix the plugin as best I am able.

Colin, please report any more suggestions/bugs so I can address them as appropriate in the next release.

@Colin ~ another factor is whether a webpage or a file is being accessed.
I think https web pages are considered safe, but https file transfers are considered dangerous so need credentials.
