Charting Companion DNA Chart
I have downloaded a trial version of Charting Companion, which I'm running as a plug-in from FH. I have been trying to create one of the DNA Matrix reports (also known as the McGuire method). I have followed the instructions given in the Charting Companion Help files but cannot get it to work - it is not finding anyone in my tree with DNA Kit numbers. Has anyone produced one of these charts? If so, in what field did you put the DNA Kit Number? I've tried a few different things but am really struggling now so any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

It's probably one for Progeny, I presume you have set up a custom attribute for DNA Kit? What I would do is to create a "tiny" project with one person and a DNA Kit field and send the Gedcom to them asking why Charting Companion is not picking it up.

Thanks Jane. I set up a custom fact and tried putting the DNA kit number in various fields but just couldn't get it to work. I'll do as you suggest and contact Progeny.

Kathryn, did you try a custom Attribute (rather than an Event) and then you can put the DNA Kit number as its value.
i.e. In the same way as you put an occupation or job into an Occupation Attribute.

I tried both attribute and event Mike and as you suggest, put the DNA kit number as the value, but am clearly doing something wrong because I haven't got it working yet!

Re: Charting Companion DNA Chart
In case it helps anyone else, Charting Companion looks for a custom attribute specifically called "DNA kit". Once I used this term, the report worked perfectly!

Thanks Kathryn, I have updated how_to:charting_companion|> Charting Companion with that advice.
