Plugin: "All pool relatives except partner ancestors"
Trying to use this Plugin to separate my wife`s ancestors from my own to run as a separate tree but despite following Mikes instructions it is not working. Have also read Bob Wards post of 01 Sept 17.
I have probably missed something out, can someone give me line by line instructions please.

Re: Plugin: "All pool relatives except partner ancestors"
I hope you don't mind Bruce, but I have moved this to the Plugin Discussions.
Have you the later Plugin Version 0.7 from Splitting my Wife's tree away from my own (14537)?
Whose branches do you wish to retain and whose to exclude?
Who are you selecting prior to running the Plugin?
In what way is it not working?

Re: Plugin: "All pool relatives except partner ancestors"
Thanks Mike, I am sure this is my error but appreciate your help.
I now have version 07 of the plugin but get same result.
I wish to have as two new additional projects, separate trees for my wife's ancestors and my ancestors.
I have selected my wife prior to running the plugin. There is no connection between any of our ancestors.
I get a listing of all of our ancestors from both family's.
I realise that I am doing something wrong but what?

Re: Plugin: "All pool relatives except partner ancestors"
Do you use Associated Persons &/or Fact Witnesses, and if so, have you unticked the Include all their Relatives? options in the Plugin, because they may be forming links between your two ancestral branches?
Compare the number of Individuals shown bottom right in Focus Window or Records Window versus the Records in Result Set shown bottom right in Result Set window. Are they actually the same?
BTW: I would advise against splitting your trees like that other than for temporary transmission elsewhere.
Otherwise, keep both ancestral branches in one Project as you never know when ancestors may join up, and it avoids needing to enter your descendants twice.

Re: Plugin: "All pool relatives except partner ancestors"
Thanks for the advice Mike, I think that splitting my tree is probably unnecessary and causing more hassle than I need.
Project abandoned!
Just out of interest, I had unticked all 4 boxes but the result set number was 47 more the Records Window number!
I would like to know where I went wrong.

Bruce, despite abandoning the splitting, I would like to diagnose what is going awry with the Plugin too.
I cannot understand how the Records in Result Set: shown bottom right in Result Set window can be greater than Individuals: shown bottom right in Records Window (next to Families:). In this context I am NOT talking about largest Record Id number.
It would imply the Plugin is finding more relatives than you have people in your Project database!
The way the Plugin is designed, I don't believe that is possible, as it only adds a record to Result Set if not already listed.

Re: Plugin: "All pool relatives except partner ancestors"
What can I say........read the ID number! The plugin actually produced an acceptable number for my wife's side so the error is totally mine.
Sorry to have caused the problem, but thanks for your help. Going back to sleep now!
