Re: Export Gedcom File new features

I've a few moments to look at the issues - quite simple fixes I think.
  • LFT
I had hoped it used same rules as TNG for _PRIM tags, but you are correct, they only work for (***~LMO) modes.
(No idea what I was observing when I thought they were ignored in (***~ABS) modes!)
All the Notes appear to be present.
From the Media Gallery use the Edit option and all the Desc notes are in scrollable box.
Even if you simply double-click to open a Media Gallery image, its Desc box is scrollable using up/down cursor keys.
  • RMT
Seems to be like LFT and _PRIM tags only work for (***~LMO) modes.
  • FTM
Now uses _PHOTO in all modes including (***~LMO). Please test that they work satisfactorily.
BTW: The Plugin checks the Export folder against the Project's Media folder, and if any Media image has changed or been added, then it gets updated in the Export folder. The only exception is where an existing image is not changed, but has its Link to Face/Details frame altered. Then the Empty Export Folder button would have to be used, or the image located in the Export folder and deleted manually.

Attached is Export Gedcom File Plugin ZIP Version 3.2.17 Dated 28 Jul 2017.
I believe this fixes all the _PRIM and _PHOTO tag issues you mentioned.
[EDIT: Attachment deleted as now updated in Plugin Store.]

Export Gedcom 3.2.17 tested out well, with these options tested. Default photos are working as desired.

TNG, Full Data, FILE~REL
FTM, Brief Data, FILE~ABS
LFT, Brief Data, FILE~ABS
RMT, Brief Data, FILE~ABS

I have not tested any other options.

Ron, if you can, please try at least one (***~LMO) mode for each product.

OK, will post results here. Will use Brief Data and FULL~LMO with LFT, FTM and RMT. Not sure about TNG, need Full Data the FILE~REL to import to TNG, unless you just wish me to inspect the Gedcom with xxx~LMO?

Mike, here are results, FTM appears to have an issue with errors on all default photo tags. Have attached part of the FTM import log.

LFT-FULL~LMO
Results OK.
slower import, at least double.
Otherwise, comparison to FILE~ABS appears identical.

FTM-FULL~LMO
Results Not OK.
1534 errors in log file (~= to number default photos)and default photos not loaded in FTM Tree tab.
media and notes not present in FTM Person tab, similar to experiences with LFT FILE~ABS 3.2.16 yesterday.

RMT-FULL~LMO
Results OK.
Import time about same.
Results identical to FILE~ABS.
BTW...RMT makes easy comparison with side by side trees!
importlog.txt
(4.58 KiB) Downloaded 178 times
NOTE: I can't realistically test TNG FULL~LMO since folder path is to one (EXPORT) folder rather than 4 folders (photos, census, documents, headstones) as expected by my TNG setup and associated thumbnail folders and the special prefix put at the front of all media images.

Thank you Ron.

No need to check TNG any further, as I've not changed how the Plugin handles its Media options for many versions.

The problem with FTM is much as I expected, but I don't have a copy to experiment with.

So in summary, FTM only supports its primary image _PHOTO tag in (***~ABS) modes.
While LFT & RMT only support the primary image _PRIM tag in (***~LMO) modes.
TNG is the only one that supports the primary image _PRIM tag in all Media modes.

BTW:
You say the results for LFT and RMT are identical.
But I suspect that is only true because all your primary images are the 1st Pref FH image.
Thus in (***~ABS) modes they take the 1st image as the primary.
While in (***~LMO) modes they take the _PRIM image, but that is always the 1st image.
If you were to set Exclude from Diagrams on one of the 1st Pref FH images, then you will notice a difference.
In (***~ABS) modes that 1st image will still be primary, but in (***~LMO) modes the 2nd image will be primary.

You should get a similar effect in FTM, but with the modes reversed.
In (***~LMO) modes you will have to globally replace _PHOTO with OBJE in Gedcom to avoid the errors.

BTW:

But I suspect that is only true because all your primary images are the 1st Pref FH image.
Exactly right...after I set the preferred = '1' in FH, they are reordered properly in the Gedcom and thus appear 1st in LFT and RMT and become by the primary photo by default. Understood about Exclude from Diagrams and the reverse of PRIM and LMO, etc.

I likely will continue using -Brief Data , FILE~ABS for LFT, RMT, and FTM since meet my needs that way, and only one set of media files accessed directly from my multiple (4) Media/ folders (I do no editing other than in FH).

So....is 3.3 ready now? ;)

I understand why you prefer to use (FILE~ABS).

Hopefully, V3.3 is ready to publish - but we've said that before!

Mike,

I see you released v3.3 of Export Gedcom August 1. Tested out today and output is as expected, identical to 3.2.17 and the setting there were preserved for me for LFT, FTM, RMT and TNG.

Thanks!
