Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plug In
Am struggling with plug in. Maybe getting some guidance for the following will help. Am sure I am not following directions very well.
Am able to select appropriate place in the Input Filter screen. I would like to do the following:
I have Place Columns is set at 10
Option 1
Current selected places are
AA, BB, CC
Desired
, , AA, BB, CC
Option 2
Current selected places are
AA, BB, CC
Desired
, , AA, , BB, CC
What steps do I take on the Mapping Options screen to make that happen.

Re: Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plug In
For Option 1 set Input Column Parts:
<blank>
<blank>
Place 1
Place 2
Place 3
Place 4
etc.
For Option 2 set Input Column Parts:
<blank>
<blank>
Part 1
<blank>
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
etc.
In other words select the Input Column Part you want to appear in Output Column Part.
However, you say can select appropriate place (singular) in filter. If you are only selecting one Place then this Plugin is overkill because you can simply edit the extra commas into the appropriate Place Record name.

Re: Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plug In
Is it possible to presort or sort the Input Filter based on a Place column before making a selection. If so,, that would speed up considerably a large list of places. My recently imported TMG project has 6700 places that I am trying to clean up.

Re: Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plug In
Gary, I have moved this thread to the Plugin Discussions Forum and will give your suggestion some thought.
I think it may be possible for the Place records to be selected in the Records Window and use that selection as the Plugin Filter.

Re: Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plug In
Gary, try the ATTACHMENTS Rearrange Address and Place Parts prototype Plugin Version 1.3.1 Date 11 Mar 2016.
Before running Plugin use File > Backup/Restore > Small Backup just in case!!!
After running Plugin use Edit > Undo Plugin Updates before closing FH if you don't like the Address/Place changes.
This revised Plugin works exactly as before, unless you select some Place records in the Records Window beforehand, in which case those Place entries, in conjunction with any associated Address entries, will be preselected in the Input Filter tab. You can then further select/deselect using Ctrl left-click as usual.
[ EDIT: ATTACHMENT deleted as now in Plugin Store at Version 1.4 Date 15 Mar 2016. ]

Re: Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plug In
That approach does work. I did not make myself clear enough in my original post. I would like to view and sort to make a selection in a window that looks very much like the Place List generated when using Tools>Work with Data>Records. When in this window I can sort and group in ways not available in the Records-Places Window. The segregated columns P1..P10 makes sorting easy but not editing of large groups.
Your help is much appreciated.

Re: Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plug In
OK, it is not possible to use the Tools > Work with Data windows and run a Plugin at the same time. However, you can imitate the Part columns in the Records Window.
In the Places tab of the Records Window use Lists > Configure Record Window Columns or right-click on a column heading and choose Configure Columns.
In the Configure Columns dialogue, select <Other...>, click > button in middle.
In the Add Column dialogue:
in Heading: enter Part 1
in Expression: enter =TextPart(%_PLAC%,1)
which is a function to extract first comma separated part from Place name.
Repeat that process for:
Part 2 and =TextPart(%_PLAC%,2)
Part 3 and =TextPart(%_PLAC%,3)
and so on...
You can then sort by clicking on those Part column headings.

Sounds like a great work around. I will try that.

Re: Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plug In
I just tried that procedure along with the Rearrange plug in. Worked just as expected and as I hoped. This now opens up a large number of options for cleaning up my imported TMG data.
Thanks a milliom

Re: Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plug In
Must say Mike, v1.3.1. is a welcome addition, so much easier to control via the Place Records window. It also works following a query, the only problem there is the Ctrl left-click selection does not seem to work (I seem to recollect it never has), but the Shift click click range does.

Re: Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plug In
Just to clarify, Jim is saying Ctrl left-click row selection in the Query Result Set does not work.
Ctrl left-click Input Filter selection in the Plugin works OK.
If nobody breaks it, I hope to publish a new Plugin Store version next week.
Jim, a workaround is to use Query Menu > Add Selected Cell Records to Named List and then use Ctrl left-click selection in the Named List.

Re: Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plug In
yes, a bit more fiddly, but the workaround works nicely with the plugin. Must remember to use the flexibility/power of named lists!

Re: Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plug In
Another solution to a problem I didn't know I had! Very helpful for displaying the place records in my database that need tidying up. Thanks!
