Hi Mike,

I've just noticed that on an export for TNG that Media notes are getting truncated when exported.

As an example I have a few "Military Cross" recipients and the image has the following in the Note field.
The Military Cross
Description: The Military Cross (MC) is the third-level military decoration awarded to officers and (since 1993) other ranks of the British Armed Forces; and formerly also to officers of other Commonwealth countries..The MC is granted in recognition of "an act or acts of exemplary gallantry during active operations against the enemy on land to all members, of any rank in Our Armed Forces"..The award was created on 28 December 1914 for commissioned officers of the substantive rank of Captain or below and for Warrant Officers. In August 1916 Bars were awarded to the MC in recognition of the performance of further acts of gallantry meriting the award and recipients of a bar continue to use postnominal letters MC. In 1931 the award was extended to Majors and also to members of the Royal Air Force for actions on the ground.
On export the gedcom for TNG only has the following..
Picture Note: The Military Cross (MC) is the third-level military decoration awarded to officers and (since 1993) other ranks of the British Armed Forces; and formerly also to officers of other Commonwealth countries..The MC is granted in recognition of "a
Also, is there a way to have the Export Gedcom Plugin honour privacy brackets? I've found that all my source contacts with email addresses are now visible online. The brackets when used in FH are working fine for reports

Here's an example of the SOUR TITL format that I'm using (names and emails changed).

Sorry Ron, it seems that CONCatenation tags are not being honoured, although strangely CONTinuation tags are OK. I am sure they used to work, so a bug has crept in somewhere, and should be easily fixed.

An Exclude [[private]] Notes, etc. tick option sounds like a good idea, so I will see how easy it is to implement.
In the meantime, you could use File > Import/Export > Export > GEDCOM File > Exclude [[private]] notes and run the Plugin on the resultant GEDCOM file.

I will post a prototype fixed Plugin version here when available.

If it wasn't for a couple media items with long descriptions I wouldn't have noticed the issue.
Thank you for taking a look at it.

Also your solution for privacy works perfectly! I just gave it a try and it works great.
I would never have thought of doing it that way.

Thank you.

Ron

Try the ATTACHMENTS Export Gedcom File Plugin Version 2.2.1 Dated 04 Dec 2015.
[ DELETED as now in Plugin Store at V2.3 ]

It has the following new features:
  • Fixes the CONCatenation problem, and some other associated issues with Media related tags.
  • Adds an Exclude [[private]] Notes option, which when ticked removes any [[text within brackets]], and when not ticked just removes the [[ brackets ]], except if exporting to (FH5) Family Historian 5 when nothing is removed. This is applied to all text fields, not just Note fields.
  • Fixes problems with tidying Place fields if exporting to (TNG) The Next Generation.
  • Is more tolerant of any UDF found in the Gedcom file.
