Would it be possible to create a Plugin for MS Onenote, to do a similar function as the ToDo Plugin that Jane created a while ago for Evernote?

Do I need to elaborate on this topic?

I used MS OneNote for research at the Records Library. But after getting an iPad I had to change to Evernote as the OneNote option for iPad was n't to good. However the latest version that comes with MS Office 365 works very well with the iPad and Android. So if I could get a Plugin to work on OneNote in a similar way to the Evernote Plugin it would be much appreciated.

Incidentally there is a very good deal with MS Office 365 for up to 5 machines not necessarily in the same household for around £80/year.

MS Office 365 Home is actually better than that.
It supports 5 PCs or Macs plus 5 iPads or Windows tablets. (Did not mention Android)

I had a quick look at MS OneNote file formats, and they appear to be binary rather than text files, which makes them much more difficult for a Plugin to access, but Jane is more export than I, so don't take mine as the last word.

Evernote has a documented import by command line which I use to import the notes into the desktop version of Evernote, with a quick Google, I can't see any documentation which looks like One Note has any sort of Batch or command line import.

If it does a plugin might not be too bad to write if based on the existing Evernote one.

In the Onenote section of the advert it states:-
"Use the Send to OneNote tool to easily send quick notes, documents or even web pages to any notebook section you like."
Which I suspect might refer only to other Office programs?
There is also a link button for OneNote very similar to the Evernote link button in my MS Outlook email prog. Which probably doesn't prove anything either.

If you scroll to the bottom of the MS Office web advert that you linked to, it does say there Android Smartphones and it does work on mine. Whether it is different for Android tablets I don't know, but it is in the App store without any indication of not for tablets.

I have found an example in a Blog in VB, but I won't have time to do anything with it for a while, it should be possible from Lua using a similar method to the Evernote one, but using com objects rather the command line method. So if anyone fancies having a go feel free.

BTW I am not moving from Evernote anytime soon.

Just to add that this covers 5 people and all 5 get 1TB Onedrive cloud storage each too. It is an excellent deal. I believe Android version of Office (similar to iPad version) is coming soon and I'd imagine will be covered under the same licence. It is currently £61 on Amazon for a year.

I'm an avid, long-term user of MS OneNote, its actually very capable. Having read this thread so far I am not sure what others want to do, if you want to move an electronic document or to 'scan' a part of a webpage the OneNote function is Insert>Screen Clipping.
When you click the ribbon icon OneNote automatically greys out and moves to the selected web or other source and you can then click in the upper left corner of the area you want, hold-down the button and select the region you want. When you release the button it re-opens OneNote and reveals what is captured. This is now in One Note with details of the source captured as well, as a link with the data and time.

You can manually add your own notes, by typing, by using a touch pen if you have a suitable screen or through Dragon Naturally Speaking.

OneNote allows you to print fromt the File tab, that can be to a physical printer or to a pdf.

Possibly one of Microsoft's most useful pieces of software. If I sound enthusiastic, I am. No connection with MS, but a very satisfied user, with it installed on desktop, laptop and tablet.

Just to add my two pen'orth, I use OneNote for organising newspaper reports. It's very good helping organise unstructured data, so I can organise by topic, by title, by person, by date, etc. I can keep whole page and clip images; transcriptions; links to other pages, URLs, etc.; and notes all on the same page. It's a really good research tool to use when visiting archives. One really useful bit of MS software, for a change

Yes the capabilities of OneNote are very good I have used it for a number of years. However until recently it was not very successful on other operating platforms. So I started using EverNote instead.
You might be aware that it is possible to send documents to OneNote direct from MS Word, Excel, Email etc. Well this could also be possible with Family Historian via a Plugin. So that after creating a To Do query in FH, it could then be sent to OneNote via the Plugin.
Jane created a plugin for EverNote which I used successfully but I would like to go back to using OneNote. As I do not have the skills to create a plugin I will wait until Jane or someone else has the time to create one.
