Emigration Facts from FTM

Post by Johnr65 » 15 Jul 2014 15:05

Is there or could there be set up an emigration plug in that reverses the text. Currently my Ftm program has been translated to FH5 but on import has reversed the people's emigration. So instead of going from England to Canada, NZ, USA,Oz, etc, it shows them coming to England! Failing that perhaps a custom query -but how to go about it?

It's possible, but it would help if you could provide a sample file with a couple of people in so we can see how the data is currently recorded.

Yes, because the Standard Emigration and Immigration Events have only ONE Place field.
FH adds a custom _PLAC field, and it sounds as if FTM also has a _PLAC field but swapped the meaning.

You have it correct Mike. where it say's Place=Austrailia, where it says To=nothing or England which is the reverse of what it should be.

Make sure you have at least a Gedcom Backup of your Project and then try the attached Plugin.

It searches for each Emigration and Immigration event and swaps the PLAC and _PLAC fields.

Hi Mike,
As far as I can see that seems to have worked OK-thank you.

It seems we are collecting a number of fixes that could eventually be combined into an Import From FTM Plugin.
