Is there a standard FH query or plugin that can look for events or other items in your GEDCOM which have no sources?

There is a query which will display all unsourced facts that might do what you need.

Bill's suggestion works for all Facts (Events & Attributes) but you also asked for "other items in your GEDCOM which have no sources".

Can you be more specific, because there are many, many other items that could have missing Sources.
e.g.
Individual Records
Individual > Name fields
Family Records
Note Records

My question was badly worded. It was inspired by a question on Genealogy & Family History Stack Exchange, where one of the users asked:

Is there a way to generate a list of events in a GEDCOM file without a source, maybe sorted by person or surname?

Since that was his entire question, I was tempted to answer "Yes" and nothing else but the title of the question was How to list GEDCOM events with missing sources? so part of my answer was to say I would use Family Historian.

However, the user in question has asked other questions about OS X so he may want a non-Windows solution.

If you'd like to join us over there and discuss the programming issues involved, please do. I wrote a rudimentary algorithm on the steps I would use to do it myself, but that barely gets one started when coding a utility from scratch.

As I said over on SE, it is more practical to have plugins which target specific things, like the missing census returns, because you can focus your search more easily on specific record collections. But it would be useful to be able to specify a person and his/her relations, as the missing census plugin does, and look for any unsourced items about that pool.

I have just posted a reply there suggesting the free Family Tree Analyzer https://ftanalyzer.codeplex.com/ which will do the job on its Facts tab, and because it is Internet based will work for any OS.

There seems to be some confusion here about Family Tree Analyser software.

That program is not a web based utility and only works as a Windows installation - It does not work on other operating systems as it requires .Net 4.

The only possibility of running it on Mac/Linux systems would be through virtualisation, e.g. a full Windows installation on VirtualBox, Parallels etc.

There is a slight possibility that it may run using WINE, but that could only be achieved by using the zipped version of the FT Analyzer program and providing .NET 4 can be successfully installed first. Not a procedure for the faint hearted!

The information may not be useful to the person who asked the question, but someone may come along later who wants to know about Windows utilities, so no real harm done.

One could make a case that the question is not well-formed because it contains two separate questions -- the programming question 'how to write a utility' and the 'what exists for OS X' question.

Thanks for the link to Ft analyser tatewise; a very interesting program. Particularly as I can not get the hang of the Family historian query method.
