Backup and Restore FH Settings - Plugin "Error" Messages
When running the Backup and Restore FH Settings Plugin I get a couple of error or warning messages
When starting the plugin:
Click ok and the plugin appears to run ok.
When clicking Help and Advice, or any tab on the Help and Advice screens:
Click either Yes or No and the screens seems to display ok.
Dunno what's going on, but it doesn't seem to affect the working of the plugin - but then I've not had to use it yet to do a restore!!
(Win7 64bit, FH installed in default location on C: but project(s) files located under D:\_Data\Family Historian Projects\.....)

Re: Backup and Restore FH Settings - Plugin "Error" Messages
That is symptomatic of not having the latest Check Installed Plugins Against The Store Plugin, which I suspect you used to update the Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings Plugin.
They should be V2.4 dated 4 March 2014 and V2.0 dated 20 Feb 2014 respectively.
The simplest solution is to use the FH Tools > Plugins > Plugin Store... button, and download & install both Plugins directly from the Plugin Store to overwrite your local copies.

Re: Backup and Restore FH Settings - Plugin "Error" Messages
Nope that's not the solution, I had the latest versions of the two plugins installed. Just in case, I've re downloaded and installed both, and the problem is still the same.
BTW, doesn't the Check Installed Plugins Against The Store Plugin check itself? If I haven't run any plugins for a week or two I always check for updates as a matter of routine.

Re: Backup and Restore FH Settings - Plugin "Error" Messages
Yes, the Check Installed Plugins Against The Store Plugin does check itself, but if it was its old version running when both were updated then the problem would still persist until the updated version was used.
BTW: The screen-shots above do not look like standard Win 7. Are you using some Classic/XP theme/style?
The Family Historian - Script Header error is definitely a download/update problem caused by CR (Carriage Return) characters being added to each line that the Check Installed Plugins Against The Store Plugin Version 2.4 should fix.
Could you please clarify a few points and try another tactic:
So please try this tactic:
Do you get the same error if using IE to visit any of the pages in plugins:help:index|> Plugin Help and Advice?
If so then it is associated with the <!-- Site Tracking Script --> that Jane needs to investigate.
(Which version of IE are you using and has it got any JavaScript blocking add-ons?)

Could you please clarify a few points and try another tactic:
- Which Internet browser version did you use to Download them today (IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc.)?
- Did you use an option to Open with Family Historian directly or use Save File and install separately?
- Did it install EXACTLY the same Plugin Name or has a variant been installed with -1 appended to name?
So please try this tactic:
- Use Tools > Plugins and select the Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings Plugin
- If necessary click the More>> button bottom right and then the Edit button top right
- In the popup edit window change the version digits on 4th line from 2.0 to 1.0
- Use File > Save and then close the edit window using the red Close X top right
- Run the Check Installed Plugins Against The Store Plugin Version 2.4 which should update Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings Plugin from 1.0 to 2.0 and fix the FH - Script Header error

Re: Backup and Restore FH Settings - Plugin "Error" Messages
Hi Mike, to respond to your post:
I use the Save File then double click to run it method of installing plugins usually, otherwise use the Check Installed Plugins Against The Store - Plugin and let it update.
No variant installed, appears to be the same plugin.
As above, I'm using Chrome (set as my default browser) not IE, and JavaScript is not blocked in Chrome or IE.
If I open any of the pages in Knowledge Base > Plugin Help and Advice directly with either Chrome or IE (v10) I do not see the "Script Error - '_gat' is undefined" message. (Since I very rarely use IE I have deliberately not allowed the v11 update).
Let me know if there's anything else you want me to check.
Yes, I'm using "Classic Start Menu".BTW: The screen-shots above do not look like standard Win 7. Are you using some Classic/XP theme/style?

Doing this has fixed the Script Header error, but not the second error. So please try this tactic:

Re: Backup and Restore FH Settings - Plugin "Error" Messages
OK, as I expected, just the first error is fixed.
The Plugin Help feature uses the IE Shell embedded within Windows (not your default browser), and I have never come across that second error before.
With the Plugin Help window open, try right-click on a blank area and choose Refresh or Reload.
If that does not solve it then it is something Jane needs to look into.
[EDIT 10:50 8 Jul]
Have you ever used any of my Plugin Help & Advice pages before ?
If so when, and did they report the '_gat' is undefined error ?
I wonder if it is some side effect of Classic Shell &/or IE v10 ?

Re: Backup and Restore FH Settings - Plugin "Error" Messages
When I click on Help and Advice, the window opens, then after a 1-2 second delay the error window displays:With the Plugin Help window open, try right-click on a blank area and choose Refresh or Reload.
Right clicking anywhere on the Help and Advice window, the Error window or the underlying FH window does nothing. Click on the Error window Yes or No buttons and the Error window disappears, and I can scroll down and up that window.
Clicking on any link in that window, or any of the buttons along the bottom of, displays the correct window the then same Error message pops up.
I can't be certain, but I don't think that I've used the Help and Advice pages via the Plugin before this error started appearing, but have accessed them directly in the KB although, as said above, the error doesn't appear if I access them that way.[EDIT 10:50 8 Jul]

If it is a side effect of Classic Shell or IE10 I think I'd rather live with the error message than remove Classic Shell or upgrading to IE11, it's no hardship to just close the error message and ignore it, particularly as no one else has reported it.
Happy to help trying further to diagnose it tho!

Re: Backup and Restore FH Settings - Plugin "Error" Messages
OK, thank you, I have asked Jane to investigate.
I am not sure it will help, but when you right-click on Help & Advice page, choose Properties, and post the popup window screenshot here.

Jane has changed the Help & Advice page <!-- Site Tracking Script --> so see if that has fixed the problem.
