An updated V2.0 of the Plugin is now available from the Plugin Store.

It incorporates the techniques of V1.9, for which I thank you, and a few other small refinements that should help with slow networked/NAS drives.

I have a need to use the Backup and Restore Family Historian Setting plug-in to copy the FH settings on my Laptop to a new hard drive on my Desktop computer.

I have downloaded the plug-in to both computers and have incurred two problems using it.

The first and minor one happened when setting up the plug-in on the laptop to do the backup. When looking at the Font tab I manage to freeze the plug-in. On investigation I found that I had in fact minimized the tab instead of closing it. Having discovered this it was an easy matter to correctly close it. Would it be a good idea to make the minimize button inoperable?

The second problem occurs when I try to run the plug-in on the recipient machine. This produces an error, see the Screen Shot. I have tried deleting the plug-in and re-installing and also a fresh download but neither has made any difference.

Both computers are running 32bit Windows7, the laptop is the Home version and the Desktop the Professional version.

Any ideas please?

Tony

I will look at your suggestion regarding the - Minimize option.

The desktop Plugin problem is that you have not upgraded to FH V5.0.9 on that PC.
(The Plugin should have checked for that, but the test is in the wrong place! )

Eventually this would have caused another problem, because both laptop PC and desktop PC must have identical versions of FH installed for Backup and Restore to succeed.

BTW: Have you checked the Help and Advice pages, especially the FAQ?

Mike

Thank you for your quick and helpful response. I had read the Help and Advice pages but quite overlooked checking that I had updated FH to match the donor version.

Your seemingly tireless and energetic work putting users like myself straight is amazing, thanks so much.

Tony

I heartily second that comment, where would we be without such dedication.
