I'm a new user and I'm using this plugin for cleanup purposes. While trying it out, the "Set the updated from date to this last run date" was changed to today's date. Searching for a way to reset the date, I found another thread with the instruction to "Restore GUI Defaults" in Preferences, which I did. This did not reset the date to default.
Is there something I am missing? I have now made a list of non-duplicates and want to re-run the program using that list. How do I do this?
Thanks for your help,
Kathleen

Re: Find Duplicate Individuals - changing date
Kathleen,
I believe the date that controls which individuals to include is actually the second date, Include Individuals last Updated from this Date. You can change this date to be anything you want by just erasing the date that is in the box and replacing it with the date you want to use. The button, Set the Updated from Date to this last run Date, is just an easy way to set the second date to the last run date shown in the first date field. Even if you use this button to set the second date, you can always type over the second date and set it to whatever date you want.

Kathleen,
Have you investigated the Help & Advice button?
There are instructions there on how to use the Plugin, including managing Non-duplicates.
Don't forget the FAQ.

Re: Find Duplicate Individuals - changing date
Thanks, Bill. I had so many possible duplicates it looked as if the non-duplicates were in the list too. Now I see that they have been ignored.
Yes, Mike, I did read the help and also searched the forum for answers. I still don't understand why something like this is a possible duplicate pair:
"0" "1595" "Ellen Jane (Jeanne) MCELREA" "17" "Andrew Agustino MCELREA" "2" "13" "0" "0" "0" "0" "-1" "0" "-10"
I found the description and instructions very confusing, but, hey, that's just me I guess.

Re: Find Duplicate Individuals - changing date
By default the Plugin lists the top 100 possible duplicates with a Score of 1 or more.
These parameters can be adjusted via the Set Preferences tab User Interface options.
The list must be assessed by human inspection to see if the entries are worth further investigation.
With a Percentage of 0% and Score of 2 these are unlikely to be duplicates.
The key is possible duplicates, because the Plugin is simply running an algorithm, where only high scoring pairs are likely to be duplicates, and the probability reduces as the Score reduces.
The Plugin has to have a default cut-off point, and to avoid hiding anything, a minimum Score of 1 is chosen, but you can raise that to whatever you like.
The assessment algorithm has necessarily become quite complex, but in most cases simply disregard low Scores and obvious non-duplicates.
I am sorry the Help & Advice is confusing. When you understand the Plugin better, perhaps you could suggest some improvements.
