Sorry, I know this is very basic, but I have loads of census images on ancestry and I can't find how to save them to anywhere other than my tree in ancestry. I have tried emailing them to myself but there still seems no way to save them. I don't want just to use print outs because often they are less clear. I have read various threads, but everyone seems to start from the point of already having the image on their pc. Thanks

Bring the image up in Ancestry. There is a SAVE button that will save the image to several places, including to the relevant person in your tree.

Choose the option to save to Your Computer / Save this image to your hard drive.

Then save it to wherever you want. But think carefully about where you'll put it.

When you are viewing a census image (or other image) in Ancestry you will see a Save button at the top right of the screen. If you click that a box will appear asking where you want to save the image: Your Family Tree, Your Shoebox or Your Computer. If you go for the 'Your Computer' option. When you choose this and Continue you should be asked where you want to save the image. Quite how this will look will depend on the web browser you are using.

Got it, thanks. Now thinking about the best place to store them on my computer.
