Gedcom specific person export, FH7 project to another FH7 project

I'm not sure what I'm going to ask can even be done, but here goes....

I have my main FH7 project file that I work off of, and I want to do a gedcom export of just my aunt's info (my mom's sister) to import into another FH7 project file.

The "Brian FH7" project file I want to import her info into was originally done in RM, and imported into FH7, and has all of my aunt's deceased husband's ancestry in it. No work has been done on file since importing into FH7.

Is it possible to just export just my aunt's info? If so, please give specifics.

Thank you!
Nikki

Yes Nikki, it is possible but there are some issues to consider.

The Export > GEDCOM File... command can export any selection of Individual records you require.
You also need to think carefully about the other options available in that command.
There are various methods for selecting Individuals but it is often easiest to select them from a Diagram.
See FHUG KB Create an export GEDCOM based on a diagram but if your Aunt's ancestors have complex multiple partner marriages then not everyone you need may appear in even an All Relatives Diagram.
There is also a plugin that could be used to select your Aunt's ancestral branch.

Points to consider...

I strongly advise that you clean-up your "Brian FH7" project so that it is fully FH compatible with no rogue data.
If you have imported from RM before then you know what needs to be done.

Our recommendation is not to create projects like that with close relations in multiple projects.
If you go ahead then you will have many Individual records in two projects for your Aunt's branch.
If you ever need to update any of them then it will have to be repeated in both projects which risks getting out of sync.
It would be better to merge the "Brian FH7" project into your master project so everyone is together.

Thanks for your response, tatewise!

I've thought exactly what you talked about in your response, i.e., it would be better to merge the Brian FH7 into my main project, but I was on the fence about it. The problems incurred in doing otherwise would be mountains of work (trying to keep two files updated? yeah, no). And yes, when I looked at the Brian FH7 file not too long ago after bringing the gedcom into FH7, there are some data problems that would have to be fixed before a merge into my main file.

Okay, I know what I need to do now. I didn't mention it, but the whole point of doing this with my aunt's info is that my cousins, who live out of state, have never seen any of the Brian info that I've found and put in book form for my uncle when he was alive. Sooner or later, they'll be glad they have all of the research I've done (census, birth, death, burial, etc.) and reports.

Thank you again! I appreciate your time and effort.
Sincerely,
Nikki
