* Occupation imported from TMG

Importing from another genealogy program? This is the place to ask. Questions about Exporting should go in the Exporting sub-forum of the General Usage forum.

Occupation imported from TMG

Post by joopsijmons » 13 Oct 2022 15:31

I was a TMG user and transferred several family trees with several thousand people to FH. I now notice that a note has also been created with the same description for the profession. As a result, this profession is now mentioned twice in all reports. is there any way or plugin to delete these notes

Welcome to your first posting.
You could try the Search and Replace plugin from the Plugin Store.

Set its Search Scope to Occupation (INDI.OCCU) so that only Occupation facts will be affected.

In the Basic Filters ensure only Note & Description fields is ticked.
To be more specific, on the Extra Filters tab, select Fact Notes (~Fact.NOTE) top right.

In the Search Criteria set Search: to .+ and leave Replace: blank. Select LUA Pattern Mode on the right.

That will search for any text in an Occupation local Note field and replace it with nothing.
So if you have any Occupation facts with Notes you wish to keep you will have to confirm every replacement.

Click the Search & Replace button and if the replacement is OK click the Replace button.
Repeat as necessary. If you are sure that every such Note needs to be removed then untick Confirm every item found.

When complete, review the Result Set to ensure only the Notes you want to be deleted have been deleted.
If not happy, then use the Edit > Undo Plugin Updates command.
