There were a couple of other points earlier in this thread that have now been resolved. I’ve been working with David offline to look at the dropped family relationships on FH import of a GEDCOM file. This remains unexplained, but was fixed by reinstalling FH. There was also a dropped family relationship when exporting a GEDCOM file from the Sample Project using the Ancestry sync plugin. This arises as the plugin is not robust to same-sex relationships. I’ll look at how these are treated in RM and on subsequent Ancestry sync, but it’s not urgent.

It may be a new tree in FTM but that is only so I can link the names to Ancestry.
My true tree is in FH which I work on.
I have no interest in merging the tree in FTM. I simp0ly delete the old trees and use the newly imported tree from FH which would include the new names that have been added in FH
