Changing Generic Citations to Templated Citations

Hi All.
As the topic says, is there an "automatic" way to change Generic citations to Templated citations?
My export from RY3 is imported as Generic citations and I have decided I want to use, where possible, Templated citations.
Thanks,
Glenn

There's been a number of discussions on the subject, and some prototype plugins written, e.g.
Sample plugin for converting sources to use templates (18347) but everyone's generic sources are structured so differently that there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution.

There's a Catch-22 here as well. It is only possible to create a conversion plugin if your generic sources are meticulously structured in a consistent way, and if that is the case, that reduces the need to use templated sources in the first place!

Hi Helen and Mark,
Thanks for the information.
The good news is that my citations are well formatted, and consistantly formatted. However I think I'll manually redo them. It will give me experience in doing citations in FH7, and allow me to experiment with Lumping or Splitting, and allow me to update the citation to make them more complete.
Thanks,
Glenn

Glenn, seriously consider using
Ancestral Sources to redo the most common sources such as Census, BMD Certificates, etc.

Thanks Mike. I do plan on using AS, but I intend on working without AS initially just so I know how FH7 works. I'm one of those people that likes to know at least a little of the "plumbing".

Yes, that is a good idea as long as you use the same Source Templates when investigating FH as you use after switching to AS.
