* Export from FH7 to FTM 2019

Importing from another genealogy program? This is the place to ask. Questions about Exporting should go in the Exporting sub-forum of the General Usage forum.

Export from FH7 to FTM 2019

Post by bruntsfield » 03 Oct 2021 15:03

I use FH and FTM, but have now decided that I prefer FH as my main program. So I exported a GEDCOM file from FH to FTM. It worked fine except the photos did not link to profiles even though all media came across.

I know there's a plugin for this but I found the options too complicated. As I say, the simple GEDCOM import worked fine except for the above. Any ideas?

Use the 'Export Gedcom File' plugin and select '(FTM) Family Tree Maker 2019' as the GEDCOM Export Mode.
Initially, accept the default settings, which should get you started and fix your problems.
The other options are for special cases when the defaults are not suitable.
It should be far better than the built-in Export > GEDCOM File command.

Upload the GEDCOM file from the Project's ...\Public\Export\ folder.
Many FTM users here upload from FH and the plugin has been refined from years of feedback from such users.
