I installed V7 and imported a gedcom file from TMG but it get his message at top of screen

Standalone GEDCOm file (limited functionality)


What went wrong?

I have had that quite a few times.
I opened a new Project and used the Gedcom file in this new project and it got sorted
The only difference betwen what you did is that I have never used TMG
I have no idea what went wrong in my cse but it appears I have got back to norma;

It sounds like you just opened the gedcom rather than importing it to a project. That warning comes up when you open a gedcom rather than a project.

Babushka, welcome to the FHUG.
I presume you are a brand new user of Family Historian (FH).
What you see is expected if you simply open a GEDCOM file on its own.
If you want to import your TMG project into FH then there is a special way to do that.
The FHUG KnowledgeBase provides a great deal of advice on many things.
As a newcomer it is wise to checkout Key Features for Newcomers.
Among those topics is Importing to Family Historian that has a special section devoted to TMG. That explains how to use the direct import from TMG process which does NOT use a GEDCOM file.

The message you reported is presumably similar to the one posted in Starting FH7.
That can happen sometimes when FH V7 is slow to get started.

I strongly advise that instead of using the GEDCOM file that you use the direct import of the TMG project file.
See the Importing to Family Historian advice and follow the Import from The Master Genealogist (TMG) instructions.
If you use the GEDCOM you risk losing some of the data.
