I figured I have received so much competent help, that I'll brave a few more questions: I have spent about a week now auditing imported data from my TMG database into FH7 and I have noticed a few more discrepancies. The first one is regard to the sources imported. I noticed in a post from 2014 regarding import from TMG that the list of sources from "Records Window->Sources" must match the list from FH Query "Source Records - All". My records window sorted by record ID shows the last ID as being 1435, while the Source Records - All list shows 1431 records. My Master Source list from TMG shows 1431 records. Should I be concerned about this? And if I should examine this further, what can I do to discover the reason for the discrepancy?

The next question is in regards to citations. My TMG Project summary shows 64,690 while FH7 shows only 51,679 (13,011 less than TMG). After some searching on this forum and knowledge base it seems that most (there are 5,656 individuals in my TMG dataset) of these are citations related to the parent-child relationship. I don't fault FH7 for this as I realize that the GEDCOM standard has no good way to provide citations for this data (which is baffling to me considering one of the central provenance endeavors in genealogy is documenting relationships, but I digress). I see that FH allowed citations to witnesses and so provides a way to add the parents as witnesses to a child's birth and sourcing these. Is this what people do? Also, regarding the ~13K missing citations, I came across two LUA scripts designed to import into FH exported citations data from TMG. Do these scripts still work in FH7?

Thank you all once again for your help, I realize exporting data from TMG is a complex and difficult issue, and so I am happy to see that FH7's import is as complete as it is.

Firstly, the largest Record Id and the number of Records are rarely the same due to gaps in the Record Id numbering.
I won't go into the variety of reasons why there may be gaps.
To check the number of each type of record use the File > File Statistics... command.

Certainly, the FH Help recommends Birth Fact Witnesses in How to Cite Sources for Relationships.

Those old Plugins from 2014 could probably be made to work in FH V7, but they were written for FH V5 prior to Fact Witnesses being introduced to FH V6 and utilise a custom Family Attribute fact.

Thank you for your reply, I checked the File->File Statistics and it does indeed show 1431 for sources which is the same as TMG. So that puts my mind at ease in that regard.

Regarding the plugins, I guess I will not use them then, especially if they don't source the relationships in the way FH recommends. I guess my option is to slowly source them myself, which is not ideal, but also not impossible.

Thanks again for all your help, I guess in the grand scheme of things if the only thing not imported by FH7 is something not supported by GEDCOM to begin with, then that's success.

If you are planning to enter those 13,000+ citations by hand then your time may be better spent learning how to write Plugins.
The existing Plugin already does half the job of reading the TMG Report and only need adjusting to add Birth Fact Witnesses instead of a custom Family Attribute fact.
I would be happy to help later in the New Year when I've finished migrating my published Plugins.

I did take a look at those plugin scripts and on the surface they look a little beyond my ability , but if it can ultimately save time (and possibly help other users and TMG migrants) then I guess it might be worth the effort to learn a little about plugins. I have the TMG database backed up and so there's really no pressing need to add in these missing citations right now.

Would the Family Historian help file be the best resource for learning about plugins, or are there other resources I should be looking at?
