Importing from another genealogy program? This is the place to ask. Questions about Exporting should go in the
Exporting sub-forum of the General Usage forum.

With help elsewhere in this forum I have got my GEDCOM file exported from Ancestry and into FH and cleaned up the errors. I am now going through the imported data attempting to bring the data up to a reasonable standard. So far I have done the following
- Set the citation assessments using Jane's plugin "Add Assessment to Citations for a Source
- Correct all the census event date dates using Ancestral Sources
I noticed that there are no dates on the Citations for the census, so I would like to set the dates to be the same as the census event dates, I can use the plugin"List all Citations for a source" to see all the entries for a given census, is there a way to populate the blank Entry Date field? see screenshot attached
Regards
Graham

The short answer is no there is not, unless you write a custom Plugin.
But I thought from the earlier thread that you were intending to use Ancestral Sources to re-capture the Census records a with a single Source per household. In which case it will automatically fill that Entry Date with the Census Date. Then all those existing Citations will be redundant and need to be deleted, so whatever you insert now will be pointless.

Thanks Mike,
you are right that is my intention, but not in the short term, and I may just live with it. The next priorities are to capture the BMD district, volume and page references as the citation page reference, which annoyingly haven't come across in the GEDCOM, and to capture all of the census images, and any other source images such as baptisms Marriages and Burials.
An ability to update result sets and write back changed values would be generally useful particular where the data repeats at lot (as it does in this example). Essentially this would provide a bulk entry facility. I accept there may be more effective ways to do this on a case by case basis.

I do not understand why you say "the BMD district, volume and page references as the citation page reference, annoyingly haven't come across in the GEDCOM" because they are clearly shown in the Where within Source column of your screenshot.
Essentially Result Sets are the result of a Query and apart from Delete do not support any changes.

Mike,
true for the Census, not true for BMD see example below, unless I have added them by hand later. I understand your comment about result sets, it would be nice if FH could treat query results as an updateable view (like Access DB), but I guess this is a minority wish list item. The birth dates and districts do appear in the record not the citation, and may be different if updated from other sources, and this does not include volume and page information.

You could contact Calico Pie regarding Result Set features, see how_to:about#problem_reporting|> Problem Reporting.
Sorry, I thought we were still just discussing Census records.
Where were the BMD Index volume and page recorded in Ancestry?
They may be in the GEDCOM in some not so visible field.
Have you tried fully expanding the All tab of a likely Individual by double left clicking twice on their name in first row.

Mike,
They are recorded on Ancestry but by reference to the index record, not as a specific citation. I have already checked the GEDCOM file, the source record is generic i.e. to the relevant index, and the citation does not include anything specific like a page or district (unlike the census which does). So it looks like I am in for a lot of updating. I will take a look at the Calico pie stuff and see about a request, thanks.
