Exporting with Primary Photo tag
When exporting to GEDCOM file, does FH include a code for the primary media file assigned to individuals. If so what is that code?

Re: Exporting with Primary Photo tag
From memory, they are simply "indexed" by the sequence in the gedcom file. So the first OBJ is the primary one.

Re: Exporting with Primary Photo tag
Gary, as Jane says, in the standard FH dialect Gedcom it is simply the order of the OBJE Media images.
But the Export Gedcom File Plugin does add tag codes for the preferred/primary image according to the chosen target product Gedcom dialect.
e.g. For FTM it uses _PHOTO, for TNG & MyHeritage it uses _PRIM, and for FindMyPast it uses _PROF.
However, there are other considerations when exporting Media to other products, such as most products do NOT recognise the Face/Detail part frame custom feature used by FH.

My target program is Roots Magic 7, with Ancestry secondary.

In that case use the Export Gedcom File Plugin that has dedicated settings for the Gedcom dialects of each of those products.
Checkout the plugins:help:export_gedcom_file:export_gedcom_file|> Export Gedcom File Plugin advice, and in particular the plugins:help:export_gedcom_file:output_formats|> Export Gedcom File ~ Output Formats for each product, that also provides advice on importing to each product.
I am not aware of Roots Magic 7 having a primary photo tag and suspect like FH just uses the first Media item.
Ancestry does not support uploading of Media with the Gedcom at all.
TNG uses the _PRIM tag and also has a _TYPE tag to organise Media Collection folders.
Many FH users export to TNG and will no doubt offer much advice.
The Export Gedcom File Plugin will soon be updated in the Plugin Store but a prototype version that has been used successfully by FHUG members is attached to Re: Importing from TMG - no sort dates in FH. It is so large that it is in a ZIP file, so needs to be extracted before importing to FH.

Re: Exporting with Primary Photo tag
I was successful in exporting out of Family Historian in a GEDCOM using a _PRIM tag created when using the TNG option to identify primary photos. When importing this GEDOM into Roots Magic v7.5 all the primary photos appeared instantly as expected. No additional editing was required. I was then able to upload to Ancestry out of Roots Magic using their new feature available, and was successful uploading all desired photos. Again the primary photo automatically appeared in the Ancestry tree without any additional editing along with all other photos.
The other options for TMG and Find My Past did not work.
The instructions suggest to create a subset of individuals when that option is desired. This I did using a query to make a temporary FH file. It was from that temporary file that I generated the GEDCOM using the TNG option.
