I’m a TMG (v9.05) user looking at the various other options. Having transferred my TMG data to FH by direct import, I find I’m unable to access media such as birth cert, census return etc which in TMG were attached to the individual citation for each source (method 2), although the media is available when using the ‘view all media’ function, but not within ‘view media linked to ...’. Trying out other programs such as Legacy, Rootsmagic, Rootstrust I find the citation media is transferred as in TMG.
My question is can you attach media to a citation, there doesn’t appear to be a function for this or am I missing something?

Re: citation media
Hi Pete.
Yes, I know TMG likes to link Media directly to Citations using Source Method 2.
FH does support this method but Media linked to Citations is slightly elusive.
However, I have checked how_to:import_from_tmg|> Import from The Master Genealogist (TMG) and it says: "Every link from a Place, Citation, or Repository to its Media is omitted".
That is why View Media linked to ... does not list them.
To view actual links, in the Property Box of an Individual open the All tab.
Select a Fact such as Birth and double-click that Fact to fully expand its sub-parts (like sub-folders in Windows Explorer).
This should show the linked Source record(s) with a yellow scroll icon.
It should also show linked Multimedia Object record(s) with a paperclip icon (but these will be missing).
This Method 2 of attaching Media is supported by ancestralsources:index|> Ancestral Sources but does have other drawbacks apart from being elusive, which we can discuss if you are interested.
Media can also be attached to a Citation by right-clicking the Source label in the All tab mentioned above, and choosing Add Multimedia Object.
