Importing from another genealogy program? This is the place to ask. Questions about Exporting should go in the Exporting sub-forum of the General Usage forum.

Mike...thinking about the versions in the store you might want to check Map Life Facts...I believe the store is at 3.6 whereas I have 3.6.2 (not sure if it was my or your edit) probably dealing with CSS formatting?

Map Life Facts V3.6.2 would only have been posted as an attachment to a Forum.
The notes I have about it was to only include Map Plots for Facts that match the Facts in the FH generated Website pages. Does that ring a bell?

Yes, it also tided up some CSS issues ~ see Map Life Facts V3.6 (12354).

When I have fixed the problem in Error in Map Life Facts plugin (12613) it will probably be time to publish V3.7 in the Plugin Store.

OK thanks...I noticed when checking the export plugin using the "Check Installed Plugins Against The Store" plugin.

I believe the KB needs an overhaul now the Export Gedcom File Plugin V1.9 has been published and a period stability has been reached. Let me know if you need a hand with any of it.

Did you see the [FHU] Mailing List posting from Clive Blackaby grappling with the same problem?
Hopefully he will join the team.

Mike, yes the KB does need a tweak or two for completion. I'm away for a couple of weeks but will take a look shortly.

I can't find Clive's postings readily.

If you look in info:mailing_list|> [FHU] Mailing List fairly soon, it is in Recent Posts entitled Keeping in synch with Ancestry.

"...my data is still in FTM and without all the tags!" ~ what is the significance of that?

Yes he shares the same issue and sound like he is well placed to help if/when you want to start work on the FTM to FH process. I hate merges too.

The relevance of my comment is simply to let you know where I am..."stuck" is another good word. In the KB (FTM>FH) I noted already some of the key priorities to get most of the data back to FH like sources, notes photos etc...I just hope the lack of note tags in my data isn't going to leave me on an island (should be OK...my data is all in FTM as it's simple) !

I think the Ancestry to FH translation is the more important direction - at least from a view of attracting Ancestry customers to FH.

Wishing you well...back in a fortnight.

Welcome back from your break.

I have updated the Plugin for other genealogy products, and hope that the FTM export features have not been upset.

Also I discovered a reason why FTM exports so slowly, and have made some improvements that nearly halved my test run times, and dramatically reduced the number of Media records.

There is a beta test version in Export Gedcom File V1.9+ (12674) that you can run to check both the above.

Thanks Mike

Just back and catching up with the normal stuff.

I will test out the new version shortly (and update KB as discussed). I'm interested which media records you have managed to scrap - are you linking to avoiding duplication - what did you discover?

The scenario is related to the copies of Source record Media linked to each Citation of the Source record.

Usually each Media Record Id and ASID pair is unique, so there was no need to check for duplicates.
Each copied link uses the same Media Record Id and ASID as the original in the Source record.
Thus each link resulted in another copy of an identical synthesised Media Record.

Now the Plugin checks if a duplicate Media Record Id and ASID is being handled and reuses any existing Media record.
On my large test database it reduces run time from 4.5 min to 2.5 min and reduces Media records from 20,000 to 2,000.

Mike, I have very little time but am trying to respond briefly.

I installed the new plugin and timed it about 6.5 minutes/ 1900 media with source on a network and output locally.

I want to give you the comparison time for the store version but this does not work. I read to revert I must delete the ...\Plugin Data\Export Gedcom File.dat but after searching C I cannot find it I'm sure you are right but I cannot spend more time looking.

I'll import the latest into FTM and take a quick look but am unable to carry out proper testing at the moment:

1) no import errors
2) I noticed no issues as I flicked thru the records and some old test data

EDIT: found dat file, deleted plugin, deleted dat file, reinstalled plugin but still get error which I can't copy and paste but its roughly: [string "ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\..."]:5271 bad argument #1 to 'min' (number expected, got string)
