* Import from FTM2014 number of Names

Importing from another genealogy program? This is the place to ask. Questions about Exporting should go in the Exporting sub-forum of the General Usage forum.

Import from FTM2014 number of Names

Post by Johnr65 » 22 Jun 2014 08:32

I'm a new user to FH5 from FTM2014 and don't understand how when I finish my research and have say 9999 names, the next time I load the program it says I've only 9989 names on it?
Currently I back up my latest file and then reload it after start up as I don't want to lose my research but surely there must be a better way?

When you converted your file did you create more than one Project?

If so it sounds like you might have left the old one as the default. If you go to File>Project Window on the menu, check you have the Project you want as the default and if not right click on it to set it as the default project.

John, I wonder if you are confusing largest Individual Record Id with the number of Individual Records.

Except for special commands, FH does NOT re-use Record Id so there may be gaps in the number sequence.

So in general the largest Record Id shown in the Records Window and in [square brackets] after each Name will be greater than the number of Individuals shown bottom right and in File > File Statistics.
