I want to create a gedcom for posting online including my ancestors, bmd only, along with their siblings and spouses. Can anyone tell me how to create this?

The easiest way to achieve that is to use both the Export GEDCOM and Split Tree Helper commands.
The first will export the Records you want, and the second will keep just the Facts you want

(1) Export Ancestors Including Siblings & Spouses

Use File > Import/Export > Export > GEDCOM File and click the Select button.
Click Add Using Query at the bottom, choose All Relatives and click OK.
Select yourself as the Starting Person which will also include your Descendants.

So now click Remove Using Query and choose Descendants and yourself as Starting Person.
Click OK until you return to the Export Gedcom File window.

Now you have some decisions to make about what Records to Exclude especially Multimedia.
If you more advice about that then just ask here.

Finally click OK and choose where to Save the GEDCOM file with a memorable name.
You will be prompted to view the exported file, so say Yes and move on to step (2).

(2) Exclude Unwanted Facts

In the new FH window use File > Split Tree Helper and focus on the bottom right corner.
You probably need to choose Delete all facts except list below and click Edit List...
Now select just the Events and Attributes you want to retain and click OK.

You have another opportunity to delete Records, and also to Delete all note fields within records, etc.
When done click Delete and you are finished.

Mike, I think kbella, wants siblings of Ancestors as well, if that's the case the instructions just need to use a Query to select the people, there is a Query in the downloads which should do the job

Just use the Add Using Query button rather than the Add Relatives once you have downloaded and installed the Query.

Yes Jane, I have just realised, and edited the instruction to use Add Using Query ~ All Relatives and Remove Using Query ~ Descendants, but the custom query probably works much the same.

It all depends on how complex the tree is and exactly which branches are required.
Siblings & Spouses are requested, but what about Cousins in all their variants?
Also what about Ancestors of Spouses who are not themselves direct Ancestors?
That would need an All Pool Members query.

I suspect KBella works in a similar way to me with regard to trees on Ancestry etc, I only send Ancestors and their siblings as it means I don't get contacts from people very distantly related too often. So my export routine is similar to the one requested.

Actually, I have two needs at the moment:

1. As I said, to post a somewhat limited tree to Ancestry, etc.
2. While doing DNA comparisons, I need to follow one or more lines of say, my mother's ancestors, along with their siblings and their children. Is there some way to output a list of these names in simple text format?

I am not quite clear what you are looking for on the DNA one, There are already a couple of DNA related Queries in the downloads

Maybe just running the Ancestors plus Spouse and Children Query that Jane suggested earlier, but choosing a different Start Person than yourself will give what you want.
Use View > Custom Queries > Ancestors plus Spouse and Children 1 gen and choose one of your mother's ancestors to start from.
