Importing from another genealogy program? This is the place to ask. Questions about Exporting should go in the Exporting sub-forum of the General Usage forum.

Upload onto Ancestry.co.uk

Post by 2zannah » 17 Jan 2014 18:35

My next job is finding out how to upload much of my project onto Ancestry.co.uk. Will start by searching these forums.

Try using the Search box top right for Ancestry export and review the existing topics.
Note that some will be for exporting FROM Ancestry rather than Exporting TO Ancestry.
It is advisable to remove sensitive data for living people, and I think it is difficult upload media files automatically.

I just upload my gedcom file to Ancestry. This doesn't include any multimedia records, but it does still show the source citations (with the name that I have given to the source record).

Before uploading the gedcom I use the ResPrivata program to create a copy of the gedcom with some details for living persons removed. You can configure ResPrivata to choose what details to remove.

ResPrivata can be downloaded from FHUG here:

http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id ... vatisation

where there are also some guidelines for installation and use.

Hope this helps.

Also take a look at how_to:delete_data_for_living_people|> Delete Data For Living People.

Also there is the Plugin Clean Living People that works well.
