When I am investigating a possible connection of person(s) to existing family trees, I create a new project called 'test'.
If I come across people to be verified who are definitely related to me, then I want to be able to copy a complete person's record from my verified gedcom to my new 'test' project, rather than keying in a copy of what I already know about an individual.
For example, I want to copy Fred Bloggs data as on the 'Individual' tab on the 'Records' window to the 'test' project.
Is there an easy way of doing this? Maybe from outside of FH using a text editor on the .GED file?

You can do this easily in FH.
Just go to Export > Gedcom and then select the individual you want, then tick the options that you want underneath and then click export.
You now have that one individual in a Gedcom file that you can import into an existing project or to create a new project from.

Just to clarify once you have exported the individual, you can then use File>Merge compare to bring the exported file into your main project.
