Cleaning Gedcom

I am planning to merge a new Gedcom, but before I do, I am cleaning up the Gedcom etc.

The imported Gedcom has a number of items that I need to remove.  I have validated the Gedcom etc and removed the UIDs etc, but a number of things remain that I don't want.  I have attached a screenshot.  There is something there recorded as 'CIMG ...' It is actually some kind of link to an image.  But there is no image.  I've split the Gedcom and removed the links etc, but there are remnants left behind.  Where can I view a central list of such items (there are lots of them with different names)?  I've tried to create queries, but I just can't seem to filter a central list of them all.  I'm having to go into each record one by one.

This is a good job for a plugin, have you experimented with them at all?

They are not showing as UDFs I presume they must be valid, although I don't recognize them.

It might be worth changing the opening options to exclude non standard codes and reopen the file.

No, Jane, I haven't. I think Plugin making is a bit beyond my capabilities. :D

I did manage to remove a lot of the links to images, but these remain. I have a hunch that these are embedded (although not in the Gedcom I have). I did filter a lot of UIDs, but these slipped through.

I think I did filter them out through 'strict Gedcom' but I was worried I might be losing other stuff by making that Gedcom selection.

These are strict GEDCOM Local Multimedia Objects.
See All tab right-click Add Miscellaneous > Add Multimedia Object > Local Multimedia Objects.
Data Reference %INDI.OBJE2[x]%.
So a Query using this Data Reference will find them, where x is an integer from 1 to the number per Record.

Thank for that, Mike. This looks promising. But what/where is the 'All' tab?

In the Property Box.

In a Query on Columns tab use Miscellaneous > Local Multimedia Object.

Brilliant, thanks Mike. I'll take a look. [grin]
